I, for one, am tired of reading what if's.

What if pooling hopping is stopped
What if DVC is bought
What if the slide at OKW is too noisy
What if we can only stay at our home resort

There are so many rumors that have started because of the "what if's" that I am not sure what is really fact or made up fiction any more.

I realize many of you are concerned about the future of DVC as I am but I am not going to obsess over it and cause myself and others to have their blood pressure to go sky high. Relax and wait until something "real" happens to worry. Right now I own what I think is the best timeshare around and I am going to continue to use it and have fun.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Sue!! I have already posted on one of the slide threads that enough is enough and quit beating a dead horse. Are we going to live around speculation? I sure know that I won't!! BTW...Josh came home sick today and is going to MD at 1. At least get his ears, lungs, and throat checked and possibly get on some antibiotics before we get on that plane!!

You always have the option of not reading the threads that don't hold any interest for you as well. There is a lot of concern lately over what is going on in and to the Disney organization and people come here to vent their feelings.

I agree. Thsi si a message board, chatting about our similar interests. If soemthing doesn't concern you, skip over the posts. I don't read every thread, I go to the ones that ctach my eye.
I am concerned about the chaos at Disney right now and I coem here to chat with others who have a love for Disney liek myself.

OOh no it takes me soooo long to type Ive just posted my thread and it mirrors yours!

Yes Yes Yes Noooo more " worry threads" please. :D

( I'm happy now I expected to get flamed)

I tend to agree. I skip the threads that I'm not interested in, but much of what's going on this week is pure speculation, with absolutley no evidence behind it. Do rumors about DVC belong on the DVC board or the Rumors board?

Chicken Little is alive and well and living in each one of us to some extent.

Anyone hear about the Meyers-Briggs test? If so, you know that it's a simple test (no right or wrong answers) that helps pin point a person's personality type. If not, you can look it up on the WEB and probably find a version of it (if you like).

I raise the Meyers-Briggs test to point out that we all have different personnalities (there are 4 main types) and some people just look at the world from the "glass is 1/2 empty" perspective. They probably aren't going to change and neither are those who look at the world through "rose colored glasses".

I tend to look at the world through "rose colored glasses" myself (but not always) so I easily become impatient with the Chicken Little view of the world. However, I realize that Chicken Little types aren't going to change (any more than I will) so I read the posts that interest me and ignore the others.

WDWMOM is tired of the worry threads! I am tired of all the posters that cannot type! Do you not have a spell checker? Do you not re-read your post before hitting that button??? Some threads are good, but it is really annoying when you try to read them and every other word is misspelled. Just my 2 cents...

:magnify:

Ummm... I think the word you were looking for is NOT

Thanks and it has been corrected. I am glad I re-read it since I would hate to be hypocritical!!

I believe with all of the news and turmoil of last week, people are just looking for reassurance that everything will be ok.

HookdonWDW, what part of Alabama are you from? Were down in Mobile.

Michelle - I was just funnin' with ya! Grammar is also one of my pet peeves, but after correcting umpteen million papers, I've learned to deal with it - some people can't help their grammatical mistakes. I have some bad habits which are far worse than a few typos!

Simba - We live in UCLA (Ugly Corner of Lower Alabama), near Dothan - about an hour and a half from Panama City Beach.

I knew there would be folks who did not agree with me, but my point is that it is doing no good to constantly question what is going to happen when we actually have no idea.

We have no idea if Disney is going to sell to Comcast.
There are no facts to back up if pooling hopping to going to cease.
We have no idea if Marriot is going to buy DVC and make us stay at our home resort only.

Except for the fact that Comcast wants to buy Disney (and Disney turned them down yesterday, but said they "might" look at a higher offer) none of the speculation threads have factual merit. I'm not saying it might not happen. I am just not going to keep trying to come up with possible senarios (sp??) to drive myself crazy.

And,by the way, I am intersted in most of the oriinal poster' posts so I start reading a thread. There is own currently about making us stay at our home resorts. I love to pool hop so I try to stay current if there is factual info on that topic. So far, I have read NONE. Just speculation. From what I have read in the past few weeks, you would think it is a done deal by the way some people post.

DVC related "what if" type of questions are important for gaining a larger understanding of the whole program, and the external forces that may affect DVC.

This is a message board, I think it's great to have all types of discussions. If a thread troubles you, don't read it. There's no reason to make this a "happy post only" board, because a readers can't handle questions about the unknown. We're big kids, I think we can handle a few probing questions that are not specifically clarified in the POS.

Many have invested tens of thousands of dollars in a vacation program that they'd like to see improve as time goes on.

The sky is falling....maybe.;)

ShelbyJosh I agree with you on re-reading your posts before you submit. I think it is just lazyness not to do so. Not saying we are all perfect and catch every typo, but when there are many in one sentence one wonders.

And please do not respend with symantic errors or begin a debate on any of the issues I stated. That is not my intention. Flame me if you must, but keep on the topic I started.

Sorry about the double post. Accidently hit the enter button and send message before I could hit the stop button.

So it is ok to criticize someone's spelling and call them lazy, but not ok to pose questions that are somewhat of a 'what-if' in nature?

I'm not criticizing (sp??) anyone's spelling or typing skills. But I am saying it is lazy not to go back and re-read your post so others can read it. But that is not what this thread is about so back to the original topic.

WDWMom

I'm with ya girl! I think all that stuff belongs on the rumors, debates and news boards myself. But, ya know, the posting rules around here are enforced only when the urge strikes....and certainly not uniformly.........

And where are you staying in 16 days? See my timer below....

Not Obsess over things?!? That's DIS heresy! ;)

I disagree. It is a very common thing in business, in science, in art, in music, etc. to play "what if" - it's not only a good way to be a little more prepared for the unknown future, but helps to come up with things that never occurred to you before. Also, it's often fun to discuss such things with like-minded - or like-interested - individuals; that is, as long as it stays on-topic - in this case, DVC. Now if you go from discussing and "what-if" to making serious, life- and finance-altering decisions based solely on the DIS, then you might be making a mistake.
And please do not respend with symantic errors
I think the word you are looking for is "semantic", unless you work for Symantic Co. ;) :rotfl:

I'm a fairly new member and am learning a lot from these posts. Frankly, I also find them very interesting. There are a whole lot of posts on these boards that do not interest me, and ya know what...I just don't read them. I certainly wouldn't play arm-chair moderator and ask for them to stop just because they aren't useful to me.
