I disagree. It is a very common thing in business, in science, in art, in music, etc. to play "what if" - it's not only a good way to be a little more prepared for the unknown future, but helps to come up with things that never occurred to you before. Also, it's often fun to discuss such things with like-minded - or like-interested - individuals; that is, as long as it stays on-topic - in this case, DVC. Now if you go from discussing and "what-if" to making serious, life- and finance-altering decisions based solely on the DIS, then you might be making a mistake.
I totally agree.
To NOT be somewhat concerned about what is currently happening with Disney regarding a merger and how this might very well effect DVC, something that we have invested substanial money in, is imo burying your head in the sand!
No one has posted anything as a fact, because there are no facts yet. However based on current events and past history some of the speculations could very well have a lot of merit.

To the OP,
Not to be snip but if you prefer to take the wait and see attitude and do not wish to discuss, speculate, air your feelings and concerns etc., then just don't read the threads relating to this subject!

OK.................
WDWMom and shelbyjosh why don't you just coem on out and say my name?!?
If you see a thread started by me, then just don't read it!
I love WDW, but I'm not gonna say everything is perfect when it isn't. I don't see anything wrong with chatting with fellow Disney fans about the fture of Disney and DVC. It is what interests me. Since this is an open message board everyoen is free to discuss happy go lucky views or start threads or make comments that make peopel think. Once again, you don't have to open and read each thread if the subject doens't intetrest you.
As for my typing skills I ahve apologized before and even have it in my signature for goodness sake! If it bothers you, once again skip my posts! I have warned everyone with my signature.

And no, I'm not gonna use spell checker for thsi post!

HookdonWDW, I got such a laugh about UCLA! That was pretty funny. I live in Georgia, but most of my relatives are in Alabama.

Well, you know what they say about people who go into psychology - they do so to try and cure themselves! ;) ;) ;)

Seriously, though, you have a point - anything, taken to excess, is usally not a good thing. Once again, though, I'll point out that this is the DIS - home of obsessives. Wasn't there a poll on "How often do you log into the DIS?" and over 40-50% said 'two or more times a day'? Hmmmmmm - Paging Dr. Freud....

PS Shan - you go right ahead and misssspell to your heart's content; how else would we know it's you? :p ;)

"Spell checkers? You don't need no stinkin' spell checkers!"

I just don't open most of them unless I need a laugh.

I am more concerned about

"What If I am hit by a Semi on my way to work and can't go to Disney?" That seems to be a much more realistic fear considering the local roads!

By the way, if you post on message boards and assume that posts are about you that don't mention you..... you need to learn to let it go. The only thing you can control on the internet is your reaction to it.

(Just a personal note, I can't spell or type. LOL! My pet peeve is posts that are one long sentence since I normally lose the point half way through them, but... that is just me and I figure my posts probably drive someone else crazy so it all balances out in the end.)

Just to clarify a few things...

lulu71,

I never asked anyone to stop if you check my original post. I ask who was tired of the "what if" threads. Keep on posting and reading if you want. It has nothing to do with being an arm-chair moderator. Just my opinion.

lenshanem,

Nope, don't read your posts. Can't understand them. But you are not the only one.

BWVDee,

I am taking the wait and see. Yesterday Disney annouced the were turning down the offer and read today that Comcast if not going to up it. Not that I believe everything I read, but I think a lot of people got worked up over nothing. JMOP

I hate these threads but can't get enough of them. Like "It's a Small World After All."

They're better than caffeine and don't cause acid reflux.

Gimme more.

Whoops! Sorry about that WDWMom. There were two threads started at the same time and the other one requested that we discuss something else. My mistake!

Yeah, Nick. Checkout the thread on Mars. Shan and I are going together. Staying at her villa and getting drunk (at least I am and maybe shelbyjosh too) then going to go down the slide at the pool after it closes. Hopefully we won't crack our skulls. Not sure what kind of medical facilities they will have to stitch me up. Wouldn't want my DH to sue DVD for me going down the slide drunk.

WDWMom, maybe this new DVC resort could be a nudist one? That would really be something new for Disney. Can we leave the DHs home? Wanna join us, Shan???

Nah, I'll pass. I need a supportive bra. I have nursed two kids. I don't want to scare anyone off of Mars...............

OK, really I'm going offline with these coupel threads.

Shan,

I agree with you. Gasp!!!! Not interested in a Nudist DVC either. Same problem as you as I have nursed three and wear a D cup bra. OK OK too much info.
