How Many OR/WA DVC'ers?

Poohnbuki & pcryan: My MIL lives in Bothell and we go there all the time!

rsschneck & FLYNZ4: Too funny that you live that close. Better make sure you're not twins separated at birth as well. ;)

See everyone -- I knew Disney "magic" wasn't only for the East Coasters!!!

No it wasn't. We don't have any dis-stuff yet. You should have said something to her though - that's probably why she has it!

Hi everyone, this is great. I knew this thread would come eventually. As for us...I have 330 points at OKW and HH. We haven't been in a couple years because we have been busy, getting married and having a baby. So we have three years of points going for a family extravaganza. We are taking my parents and brother with family on a cruise and to WDW. WE have a 3 BD villa at OKW scheduled for January and I can hardly wait. I got our tickets already. I was very excited to find that Alaska flies direct from Seattle to MCO so I got three tickets, direct, for $700. I was very excited!

Hello to everyone out there. For those in Washington, I ran into the "can't talk to you because you live in Washington" thing too, so I bought both my contracts by resale. I would like to do an add on, but now I don't know with the prices going up. We will see.

Best wishes to everyone for a great holiday weekend. Do you think the rain will stop? Not that we didn't need it. :D

DB & SIL have 150 OKW and 100 BWV points. They only go about every 2 years for about 2 weeks. This year it will be only 1 week in early Dec followed by a 1 week cruise out of Tampa. Both contracts were bought while at WDW.

They're happy that Alaska is now flying direct (non-stop?) flight SEA- MCO. DB uses O2, so not having to change planes is a BIG advantage. They're driving back to MCO after the cruise just to take Alaska, so they don't have to change planes. It works ourt well as we'll be at BWV then and they have a few hours to visit with us then.

It is a small world, our Mom also lives in Bothell, but we grew up south of Seattle, in Normandy Park.

We just moved from the Tri-Cities, WA (Kennewick) to Las Vegas.
We were at BWV two weeks ago and looked at a map at the DVC info cart across from the Village Green. There were more WA members than we expected, though I can't remember an exact number.

We started with 152 BWV points with the intent of going every-other year or staying 10 nights during adventure season in a studio.

We made the mistake of getting a one bedroom, and decided that we really couldn't go back to a studio. ;)

We bought another 150 OKW on resale and now go 1-2 times a year.

This year, we're going three times. :hyper:

Normally, we fly Delta, but we've become less happy with the service. Twice, I've had problems w/ seats that won't stay upright and the 5 hour beverage-only flights are a bit much to take.

Now, we'll fly whover gives us the best deal. After all, it's not the plane ride we're there for. ::MickeyMo

Hi everyone! I'm from Vancouver (not BC). My parents bought 300 points at SSR when we were at WDW last January. They put me on the contract as an associate member. Yipee!!! We will go on our first trip "home" in February in a 2 bedroom with the kids and the grandparents. I have stayed at OKW, VB, and HHI as a renter and can't wait to go as an owner.
I am flying on FF points with United. I also have another trip booked to stay at Marriott's Horizons in December and will fly Alaska on FF miles also. We will preview SSR then.

Alright -- now I know there's at least three of us from Vancouver. That's good to hear as I honestly thought we were the only ones...silly me!!!

Is anyone going the last week of October? We had orginally planned for the first week of December but our kids are in the Evergreen School District and changes to the school calendar caused the move to October. Vacations will be a bit trickier to schedule now that we have one in elementary school and one in middle school. But, where there's a will, there's a way, right?

We are going the LAST week of August/ first few days of September. We are taking my sister's family (they live in Vancouver) kids are in the Battleground district. None of our school holidays were even close to matching. We chose the August week because a lot of schools start before the labor day weekend so we are hoping for less crowds but enough heat so we can do one or even two water parks.

We chose the week before Christmas for ourselves because of the school calendar. DD will miss two days, but I don't think they will be doing too much right before the Christmas holiday. We are leaving WDW Christmas eve in hopes of missing the bigger Christmas crowds.

We hope these are good times to visit. Really trying to not miss any school. Very hard though!!!

We're going from the 18th of September through October 2nd.

Sounds like we'll all just miss each other.

I'm excited about October 1st, because it's the first time we've been to the Epcot food & wine festival. :bounce:

Yummy! :mickeybar :drinking1 :mickeybar

We bought 200 points at BW in 2003. :) We have already been to WDW and Disneyland, Grand Californian.

Looking forward to our next trip in December 2005. A long time to wait.... :( :( :( :(

How in the world did I miss this thread?!?!?!?

my DH and I have a Portland mailing address, but live about 20 mins. Southeast of downtown Portland in a little community called Happy Valley (Clackamas Town Center is right down the road for those of you who know it!) We moved out here about 18 months ago and when we did, we looked at houses in the Evergreen School District in Vancouver- but settled on happy Valley instead. We love it here- and we'd love to have a meet with you all!

Ya know it's funny. I've thought about starting a thread like this a million times, but didn't because i didn't think anyone would answer! I'm thrilled to know there are other DVCers out here in the great NW!

I knew you would find this thread eventually!:smooth:

Isn't it nice to see so many NW DISer's.

Hi everyone!

We live in Oregon City (my husband commutes across the metropolis to Beaverton every day). We have points at BCV and SSR and seem to be starting a habit of going to WDW twice a year... We have been staying somewhere else the night before check-in, since we don't get in until late evening (I can't stand early-morning departures anymore)!

Karebear1, I remember you from a similar thread a while back. Of course, we are very familiar with Clackamas Town Center!

It's nice to hear about other DVC people out here! We would like meeting all of you if there's ever a get-together. :D

rsschneck- it is wonderful to see more folks responding. We may be few and far between- but we are MIGHTY!!!

kinghenry- I remember you as well.

What do you all think of some kind of DISmeet for the fams? Perhaps we could meet at a newly released Disney movie sometime this summer and then have dinner/lunch? Maybe just meet at a local Disney Store- there are SO MANY of them around us (aren't we lucky?!?!?) Any other suggestions?

I think if we could figure out how to do it, getting together would be so much fun! It would be nice to meet everyone and would help with my trip withdrawl. We don't go home until January, and that seems so far away.

Count me in, and my daughter...:thewave:

I am calling a couple of local places that we have attended for special occasions.

Right now I am leaning towards the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse which is a McMennamins. They should be able to reserve a place for us inside or outside without an axtra charge for the room. We would have room to MEET and eat and/or drink. I am thinking about a Saturday so the out of town people could drive in if they wanted to. Thinking mid-July. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Roxann

I have been busy today! Trying to find a nice place for a DISmeet that we have time to chat, eat, drink and be merry.

I will post this on the DISmeet boards when I get a sense of how many are truly interested in meeting.

Place: Cornelius Pass Roadhouse
4045 NW Cornelius Pass Road
Hillsboro, OR

Location is very easy to find off of HWY. 26

Date: Saturday July 24th
6:00 - 11:00 pm

This room will hold up to 50 people, kids are welcome!
I think their picnic menu would be fine for most folks and would run about $15.00 per person (gratuity included). There would be an open bar that would cost extra. Soda is included in the price of the meal.

Please, PM me if you are interested. I will need to get some sort of a head count because I will need to put a deposit down within 1 week to reserve the room. If we have enough people interested I will make a formal post on the DISmeet boards. I will then start taking money up front to pay for the evenings meal.

Hope to hear from you all soon!
Roxann
