How Many Of You....

My wife and I bought at okw in 1996 ,250 points.started out going twice a year. Then 3 times a year not using weekend points. That was fine for a couple years. But like alot of Disney Crazy people that was not enough. So now we own a condo in Winter Haven Fl. 30 min. from the front gate of magic kingdom. We now go whenever we get the bug. Last year 7 times, some trips just for long weekends. Thank god for southwest air.We still use okw for 1 or 2 days when grand kids or friends come.

We own 150 points at BCV! We have only travelled to WDW every 2-3 years in the past and wanted enough points to go in the off-season for about a week in a 2BR occasionally. This December 6th, we will use 210 points for a Sat-Fri 6-night stay. Then, we plan to return the following year (maybe Nov) because we have banked ahead by buying over a year before our first trip and want to use Annual Passes twice. We will then skip a year and take it from there.

Of course, we don't have a long history and judging from this thread, we might have 600 points by the time that second trip rolls around. But, I doubt it. I am more than thrilled to have semi-regular WDW vacations planned. There are a lot of other expenses involved (flights, passes, food, etc.) and I think a trip every year and a half or two is plenty.

I guess the difference is that I enjoy Disney but am not a true fanatic. Of course, I used to think I was a fanatic until I found the DISboards.

Since there's only the 2 of us, we only go in the off season, and I only get 2 wks vacation and can't spend both of them in Disney, I'm hoping this will be enough for us for now. Of course I'm still new to this, just joined last year, and I have to buy a house before I can buy anymore points.. so I guess it'll have to do for now.

So far last year we did a 1br at OKW (we only do Sun-Sat so only have to use points for 1weekend night). We then managed to bank enough points that we are taking the in-laws and getting a 2 br in VWL this year, plus have some left over that we are going to try and add (need to borrow 29pts from next yr) a short 4day trip in at Christmas time. (I know.. I said only once a year.. but I wanna see Disney at Christmas again!!) This should still leave us more then enough points (171pts) to do another 1br or studio next year.

So long story short.. I guess I'm happy w/ my little 200pts... or at least I keep telling myself I am until I can convince myself I'm actualy ready to buy a house.

... Then again.. I have a home at Disney don't I?? FORGET THE HOUSE.. I WANT MORE POINTS!!! :bounce: - just kidding.

We joined back in 1996 at Old Key West, and we've been pretty happy with 150 points. We use DVC an average of three times a year, but because we live in Florida, we vary where and when we go. We often spend a couple of nights in an ocean view room at Vero, then a studio in January at either VWL, BWV or BCV. In May, we do a 4 or 5 night trip to Old Key West in a one or two bedroom, depending upon who is going with us. We do stay away from weekends, however, since they are such point-sappers.

However, that's not to say we wouldn't like more points:-) But I did want to point out that we get a lot of bang for our buck with 150 points!

150 points here at VWL. We may add-on, haven't made a firm decision on that yet. If we do, it would be just so we could take family with us. 150 gets us 10 nights in a studio in January which is pretty much all we need.

Currently we have 250pts©
We originally bought 150 points at BWV with the intention of going to WDW every *other* year© That plan lasted all of one trip© We were no sooner home from our 'weekend ¥lets-check-it-out-before-we-bring-the family¤ getaway' when we started planning the next trip© And the next© We added on 100 points just before BWV sold out but that's still not enough© Since small BWV contracts are so hard to come by, not to mention how few and far between September use-years seem to be, I had all but given up on adding more© Fast forward to a few days ago when our guide called and told us we can add on however many BWV points we'd like© We have until tomorrow morning to decide and it's been gnawing at me all day ¥in a good way!¤©

I started last year with 180 BCV points and a year later I've added on and I have 300 now.

I do mostly short trips - 4 or 5 nights here and there- and I'm single, so I get studios. 300 points will get me a lot of trips and I still get to check out other Disney resorts for the weekends (I hate using points for weekends).

I just closed on 150pts at BCV. I only bought 150 because that's all I could afford without financing it. Plus, I figured it would just be myself & DGD8 going most of the time staying in a studio. Well, now I have another grandchild on the way and would like to take other family members too sometimes so I can already see that it's going to be hard on just 150pts. I may have to get more points in the future, we'll see.

It really depends on how often you want to take a Disney vacation. We bought at HH because, while we LOVE Disney, we also love the beach and Disney is not always the most relaxing vacation (and can be expensive). We own 200 points and used our first 2 years worth immediately for a cruise, which we LOVED and are so happy we were able to do. This year we are splitting our points between HH (2br) and OKW (studio). My kids' friends are joining us in HH.

Next year, we will skip using our points altogether since we plan a trip out west. We also plan to go to Europe before our kids begin college. Soooooo.....while we love Disney, we do plan to vacation elsewhere from time to time so our points are enough for us now.

Not that I wouldn't mind having a few more in the future;)

I'm another 150 pointer. We'd love to buy more points and would have no trouble at all finding a use for them but can't right now.

On our first trip we used 156 points for 5 days in May in a one bedroom. Our second trip will be in May again (in just two weeks!), using 140 points for 6 days in a one-bedroom. In October we are treating 5 of my co-workers to 6 days and will still be banking 79 points. We'll be using a two-bedroom and a studio on that trip - unless the waitlist comes through for the Grand Villa.

Depending on when and how you use your points, you can stretch them pretty good. We really like the space, the tub and the washer/dryer in the one bedrooms. If we stayed in studios our points would go much further. And if we went at different times of the year we could do more as well - but that's when we like to go.

We will probably add-on at some time in the future because we would like to share it more with our friends and family, but for now 150 points seems to be working out just fine. Barrie

We are at 150 points and holding. We LOVE the Disney Cruise as much as WDW, so we plan to pay for the cruise once a year and then use the points to go to WDW once a year. That is all the vacations we can take, so 150 points is just fine for us. We travel in September also, and that helps (it has been our travel month for a long time now, we don't like the crowds).

We bought a 150 point BWV resale in February. Adding on BWV points through Disney is very tempting, but 150 works for us right now. We'll only be going to WDW every other year and right now there's only three of us so 150 is plenty; maybe we'll add-on points later. The only add-on I know for sure is transpiring is an add-on to our family...hopefully within the next year or so!
