Most people I know in this part of the country put salt on watermelon. I don't.

I never seen anybody put salt on apples, though.

No way! I'm too chicken to try it! But, my father does it all the time. I tasted his once when I was a child and it tasted like salty watermelon to me. I love the taste of sweet watermelon.

There is a magic trick to the salt and ice cubes. I just can't remember what it is.

I never heard of it on apples but my mom puts it on watermellon and my dad did too when he was alive. I never understood it. Fruit is suppose to be SWEET why would anyone put salt on it? I've tried the salted watermellon and its just nasty. I don't get it???

the magic trick with ice cubes is to place a string on the cube. Then sprinkle it with salt and the string freezes to the cube and you can pick it up.
