How many of you guys book extra days....

In order to take advantage of airfare deals do you guys book extra days on either side of your vacation then wait for the better airfare rates? Or is this crazy?

Sometimes we'll book extra days, but usually I plan our trips around the airfare. Airfare is usually cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so we often fly those days. If I use reward points, those are usually good any days, so that may make a difference also.

I must admit that sometimes I do this. Southwest only publishes their schedule 5 months in advance. As I found out the hard way several years ago, if I wait for Southwest's schedule to come out to determine the days with the best air fare, I could, and did, end up on the waitlist at the resort. But as soon as Southwest's schedule comes out, I call MS if I have to cancel one or two nights.

I agree AF is cheaper middle of week we added on 2 days @POP for our last stay, got the AP discount for the room and saved quite a bit on the flight. BUT more importantly got two extra days in the World and saved 2 days of Points.
