k&a&c'smom thank you for the info about where the non smoking rooms are located. This is what I'll request. Is the walk to the lounge a long one from these rooms? I don't really care if it is, just curious.

steveanddonna thanks to you also. I think I'll email IPO to put in a request for the mini-fridge. I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to his meds.

they are 12, 8, 5, and >1, and we haven't told them yet! I am going to try to wait until the day we leave, were they excited when you told them?

We waited until yesterday afternoon to tell them, and they went wild. We were going to wait until we got in the car, but our son is the kind that likes to be informed. He can handle anything if he knows whats going to happen, but surprises throw him off. We also wanted them to have a few days of anticipation. I may regret that, because DD is asking every 15 minutes when we leave!!

Thanks for all of the good wishes, I will definately report when we return!!

Oh Bambi, the clippies are just fabulous!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

So, are you going to celebrate another of your Mom's kidney birthday while at Poly LVC??? That was such a touching story....:lovestruc  :goodvibes

Okay...I have not seen it spelled out. What are the benefits of the concierge component? We bought annual passes and are staying at pop century (our whole extended family is staying there) this year but, next year when we don't have to pay for tickets we plan to go luxury in the hotel area. So please list the benefits!
Best,
Amy

I just left a message at the IPO, can't wait for them to call me back. Did I mention how excited I am?? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

And we've got another Lizard and a Lizard-in-the-making!

Amyality...Here's a great link to get you started....Concierge 101.

PSherman37...What a great user name! I LOVE it!:teeth:

mom_rules & kacsmom....I don't know the answer for the BWI CL's floor level. Perhaps EAD79....calling Elizabeth!!!! could help us on that one!:hyper2:

luckywife...Again, so glad to hear that DS is on the road to recovery! And the Poly CL will take wonderful care of you all, also!
Please mention your ordeal to them before your arrival.
Email Melissa or Aida and tell her about your concern about the temp for the fridge, and then tell them what your little man has been going thru.....
they'll probably want to know your DS's favorite character, etc.
Something to cheer him, and YOU, up!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Big wave:thewave: around the lounge!

luckywife-SOOOOO happy to hear the great news about your DS. You're going to have such a great trip! Rooms on the 1st floor are all nonsmoking and have patios, rooms on 2nd floor are all non smoking and do not have balconies but the windows are actually sliding glass doors, rooms on the 3rd floor have balconies-the rooms closest to the lounge end of the building are non smoking. In my 2 trips I requested a room on the 2nd floor close to the lounge(never heard any noise). Its convenient with small children to be close to the lounge but I don't think the building is that big that even the farthest room would be too far. For my October trip I am going to request non-smoking prefer 3rd floor-it would be nice to be able to sit on the balcony while kids sleep. Lots of folks LOVE the patios but I don't want the kids to be able to walk out of the room. The first year I faxed my room request to the room assignor and got what I wanted and the 2nd year I just told the CL and I got a perfect room(2505-perfect view of castle!). I'm sure you'll get exactly what you need too. Can't wait to hear your trip report!

PSherman-welcome to the lounge! Have a great trip. Your kids will LOVE SAB!

Amyality-I'm sure others here are more elequent then I but here's why I think concierge is worth the $$$.
Before your trip they arrange all your PS and other special events. They even got me CRT for my DD's first trip with only about 30 days notice. Last year they arranged a 3rd birthday party for my DS at CP-the cake which I paid for was so good and beautiful! Then they had a cake, balloons, party hats, noise makers for him in the room-a very special day indeed. When he was 2 he was afraid of the candles but this time around he knew just what to do and got to do it twice! Everyone says a PS made through concierge gets you a better seat. They will arrange other special things too like gifts in the room when you arrive. Then when you get to the resort you are taken by the bellman right to your room(if ready) and you can relax for a few minutes before dealing with the paper work and when you do check in at the concierge desk the process is usually much quicker and relaxing as you get to sit than waiting in line at the main desk. If you need anything during your stay the concierge staff is there to help you with PS or anything else. We had too much stuff to bring home and they got me a box and packing materials and sent it to my via UPS. And then there is the lounge-depending on the resort most have breakfast with pastries, bagels, coffee, juice (Poly has hot oatmeal); afternoon snacks-fruit, cookies, soda; evening hot offerings (not meant as a meal) with wine and beer; and late evening desserts and cordials. It is hard to justify the cost based just on the food but concierge is so much more and only you can decide what you think the convenience of having the lounge is worth to you. For me with a "grumpy" DH and 3 kids I cannot put a price on that. DH isn't a Disney fanatic and so I just can't go anyother way-got to make him as comfortable as possible. Be careful-once you go concierge its hard to go back without it! If you hang around here with the lizards you'll be getting lots of use out of those AP's!

lovesdumbo...........
I'm sure others here are more elequent then I but here's why I think concierge is worth the $$$.

you said it perfectly!!!!::yes::

hehehehe....had to add this...
WARNING...those APs will BURN A HOLE in your pocket!!!!:flower:

luckywife - Sorry, I think I made it more confusing rather than less! lovesdumbo put it better, the non-smoking rooms are all of the 1st floor, all of the second floor, and the 1/2 of the third floor nearest the lounge. The smoking rooms are on the third floor, the end furthest from the lounge!!:teeth: I tried to make it simple, but made it much less than! DD and I had a room on the 2nd floor, two doors away from the lounge, #2502. It had the most perfect view of the castle!!!!:cloud9:

--------------------------

And, yes, those AP's do burn a hole in your pocket!;) We bought ours to get the discount last Dec., we got such a good deal on the room, it paid for the AP's. We said we might take another trip this year, but if we didn't, we hadn't lost anything. We're working on our third trip this year!

I am just amazed everytime I come back here and start reading all of the helpful info everyone gives each other. By far, this is the nicest group of people I have ever "met."

k&a&c'smom LOL! Not to worry. I confuse easily no matter what someone says! :o Thank you for the information on the rooms and thank you too lovesdumbo. :D

I emailed IPO a little while ago about the mini-fridge. I explained that I was concerned about keeping DS's medication cold enough. They've been so wonderful with everything else...I can already justify the cost of concierge just from what they've done for us already since we booked our CL trip.
Think they've got me hook, line and sinker--and I'm not even there yet! :)

CALLING ALL LOUNGE LIZARDS!
I have another question! My 10th wedding anniversary is not until March 2005... but, we are using our money and time off for this October 2004 trip. So, DH said... no 10th Anniversary trips for us in March :( .

Anyway, can I treat this trip as my 10th Anniversary trip? Should I mention is to the CL staff at CR? What do you think?

Go for it-I think you'll be celebrating your 10th anniversary right?

Calling ead79 and KerryCM-where are you?

Annamonte,
We celebrated our 10th anniversary last year with a split stay at the Boca Raton Resort and Club (just the two of us for the first time since our first child was born! She is now 8...), then the AKL CL and the Poly CL with our three children. I had asked for suggestions from both the AKL and Poly planning staff for some neat things to do to celebrate. One of those was the re-hitching ceremony at the Garden Grill, which we did during the Ice Cream Social. My parents were there too, and it was fun. In addition to that, the AKL CL staff arranged for a cake to be in our room one evening, which was a really nice touch. There was nothing extra done by the Poly staff, but I did not expect anything, and the staff was going crazy, being temporarily located in the larger Tahiti building. Anyway, to cut a long story short :) , I would definitely recommend telling them - they have some great ideas and maybe even a surprise or two... :)

luckywife,
Glad to hear your DS is home and improving. My DS (2) was in the same boat a couple of months ago. A stay in the hospital, followed by nebulizer treatments at home. I would love to hear how you managed to get him to sit still - ours hated it until the very end :D By the way, the last time we were in the Hawaii building, we had a room fairly near the opposite end from the lounge. The building is not that big, so the walk is not long.

steveanddonna,
They had regular fridges in Tahiti rooms last year (and you are right, they did look out of place). I was positive that it was a regular fridge that we had in the Hawaii building last month also, but I am quite prepared to believe that those memory cells have since died

Can I join in with all of you Lounge Lizards? I have to admit to being a long time "lurker" on this thread (actually since it started) and feel that I already know most of you. You all are absolutely hysterical!

Since EAD79 (Elizabeth) and KerryCM haven't responded to the BWI CL questions, I thought that I would chime in where I could. We stayed here this past March. The Club is on the 4th floor, however, the floor isn't dedicated to Club guests. There is no key card access on the elevator (like at YC) to the floor. Once you get off the elevator, you proceed down a long hallway, which then opens into the Innkeepers Inn (which is Concierge). These doors were actually open most of the time, however, I heard on these boards that they were going to install key card access for these doors. This was not in place in March. I suppose that technically, anyone on the floor could access the lounge, but I assume that the CM's have a feel for who should be there.

This Club also differs from the other two that I have stayed in (Poly and YC) in that you check in at the front desk and are not escorted up to the Concierge desk for check-in.

I do not have a link to a map or outline of the rooms. The room that we stayed in looked the same as any other standard room at BWI. Our view overlooked the Garden Suites and the quiet pool. If we looked to the left, we could see the Eiffel Tower.

Hope that answers some of your questions. We enjoyed our experience here and are going back in July. However, we rented points to try a 1 bedroom villa (we have never stayed in the DVC section of any resort). To make sure that we do not experience "concierge withdrawal", we are preceding our Villa stay with 3 nights at GF RPC.

Have a great Day......

Camala

luckywife ditto what BT said. The CMs are your best resource for info, so just keep asking...
I would definitely still recommend GF spa - this was the first bad experience I have had there ever. My therapist in March was handds down the BEST I have had anywhere. Looking back, I would have handled the situation a bit differently. As soo as I was displeased with the treatment I should have not only stopped the therapist but explained the situation to the desk and requested a different one. The poor girl was so sweet I felt bad even stopping the massage, so I was hesitant to say anything up front. I also didn't realize the extent of the pain until about 15 minutes later.

Hi MikeinFL - we had a mini fridge in Hawaii in Jan., too, as the minibar was not working - maybe we had the same room! I did not know about the difference between the minibars & the minifridges until IPO told me.

WELCOME WeLuvWDWx5!!! You can most certainly come on into the lounge. We love all the details you can offer!!!! In fact, please, you can have my chair. I'll be back with some refreshments....we need those Krispy Kremes since we haven't had any in a while & I think we are all having withdraw symptoms. Smoothie anyone?

Donna - I have a hot stone therapy booked at the new Saratoga Springs. I was doing a package deal at GF, but that hot stone therapy just kept calling my name. I just had to go for it. I'll report back on how it goes. BT - They have something called a mystic wrap that is their signature service.......

I know what you mean on feeling bad about complaining. There are just some people that are so nice even though they screw up that you just don't want to "get them in trouble."

WeLuvWDWx5 - Welcome, pull up a comfy chair and stay awhile!! Love your username, we are a family of 5 also!!

Thanks for the info on BWI, I have stayed there years ago, but not CL. Can't remember, is the 4th floor the highest?! Fooey about that check-in thing, that's a really nice perk! Also, did you enjoy that view of the quiet pool and Eiffel Tower, or would you say the BW/water views are better? OH, and, where in the bldg. is the lounge located - I mean, if you're looking at the map!(You're barely here, and we're already picking your brain! ;) ):sunny:

steveanddonna - I thought the fridge in our room was a min-fridge, but now that you mention it, it did not get really cold, so it was probably a min-bar fridge.::yes::

WARNING...those APs will BURN A HOLE in your pocket!!!!
You said it BT! Why else would DH & I have travelled from Chicago to WDW 4 times in 6 months?!!!

Everyone says a PS made through concierge gets you a better seat.
You know, I never thought about this but now that you mention it...This was the first trip for which I had IPO do all of my PSs, and we got choice seating every time (by the window, whatever). We never waited more than 5 min. either. We noticed at Boma that "Polynesian concierge guest" was next to our name in bold letters.

VAgal the hot stone therapy sounds fab - had a hot stone pedicure at a local spa & loved it. I think I might have to try Saratoga Springs spa next time. Any excuse to get back to the World! Which CL has Krispy Kremes? This would surely get DH to try a different resort!

steveanddonna - I definitely noticed the difference between all the PS's I've made myself in the past, and the ones that IPO made for me last month! As you say, we always got a good table, and we never waited more than a couple minutes during Easter break!:teeth: All the years I've made my own, we still had a wait, sometimes as long as 20 minutes (SciFi) - I really think that "concierge" notation makes a difference!!::yes::
