LOL, goodferry!
you got me right before logging off!

Yes! Call CL IPO for them to arrange a basket or a fannypack of goodies for your children!
We've done this often, as I bring along other children, who've never been to WDW.
They offer different selections, ie, candies, snacks, autograph book, activity books, markers, crayons, stuffed character beenies,(or larger stuffed characters), dolls, sunglassses....
you just tell them what you want and they can also add on a fanny pack or back pack (a BIG HIT!) to use instead of a basket.

Also, use that free 30 minute stop to pick up plastic bottled water and stuff you've remembered that "you forgot to pack" while on the plane!;)

LOL! Can ya'll believe of all things...you know what BT forgot this last trip?
MAKEUP!!!!!!
ACK! :earseek:
Cost me a pretty penny to go over to France at Epcot and get what I needed. And I went ahead and let DH pick out a new fragrance for me!:sunny:

Oh, yes! they will usually ask what the child's fav character is and have a signed card from them in the package!
A nice added touch!

Really neat to have it delivered on the first day around check-in!

Hi Fred!
We posted almost at the same time!
Also, Ida called and CONFIRMED our Grand 1 for Father's Day at 8 pm.
So, we're doing the Wishes FW from the G1~~~~!!!

Those CL CMs are WONDERFUL!::yes::

BT-I have two kids celebrating birthdays and mentioned it to the concierge when I spoke to them regarding PS's.
Can you give me an idea of what the cost might be for the items you mentioned?

Goodie, goodie, goodie!!! I got it, I got it! My DH is going to be soooo happy.

Wait...here's my happy dance :cool1: !

You know what, I don't think I'm going to tell him. I'll just let that driver pull up to the Lodge and see what happens:tongue:! I'll have the package mailed to my MIL so there's no chance of him seeing it.

Ooohhh, more happy dance :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: !!!!!!!!!!!

VAgal...[As for the food offerings, the CLs at YC, BC, Poly, and AKL
(I know from experiences) are very efficient about replacing food items during the lounge hours.
Perhaps you came into the CL when they were closing?
BTW...what room # were you in?

Hi VAgal,

We were at the lounge at all different times. The afternoon seemed to be the biggest problem. There was a bottle of Pierre water that was always an inch from empty--and never anyone around to replace it. We looked in the fridge below, but there was only soda (pop--depending on where you are from :))Also, I think the toaster there is from the 1940's or some other vintage--LOL It took what seemed like an hour and a half to toast a bagel!

The robes--no big deal, really. Just the fact that they weren't there. I called twice about getting an extra pillow, which never came. Also, 2 of the 7 days we were there, we didn't even get our room cleaned. The maid showed up around 8am, while we were still getting dressed. We politely asked her to come back a little later and she never did! We have never had that happen at any hotel, ever!

I can't remember my room number! Can't believe it--although I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so I was sharing my brain! I have my key, but it doesn't have it on there! HMMMM...

Anyway, we LOVE Disney--so it's not like that experience could ever turn us away. I just don't think we will pay extra for concierge anymore. I would love to hear what everyone oooh's and ahhhh's over.

Thanks!
Rhonda:wave:

mom_rules...Of course! They treat the charges like room service. you are charged the same price as the stores in the resort charge, plus a delivery fee, like room service.

Last trip, we didn't do this, but last June, the costs for two "Stitch" backpacks filled with autograph books, pen, candy, cookies, chips, and a beenie mickey was around $40 each.

The costs depend on what you want to have waiting for them!

Also, they will have a cake and decorations and a signed card from their favorite character for their birthday!
Follow up and call on that one, too, to remind them!

DH tells me that I'm "the squeeky wheel that gets the grease"!:teeth:

Good for you!
"just keep calling" really works!::yes::

Rhonda....again, so sorry to hear about your poor CL experience.
usually at YC, they had alot of sodas in their cabinets and you had to ask for chilled bottled water and beer, etc.
LOL! about the room #.
Been there, too!
And no mousekeeping? Yikes on that for any room!

Glad you still are returning to WDW.

CONGRATS, BambiTamby :sunny: !

Wow!! You guys have been busy this morning!!

MamaTink - We'll be leaving AKL on the 10th, unfortunately. Yes, I have been there before, and it is our favorite resort. We have not stayed CL before, tho, and won't get to this time, unless we can snag it at check-in. The resorts are jam-packed for the week we are there, even tho I have called and called, no such luck. We are staying CL at the Poly, so that will be great!:)

WoodysRoundup - My DH has never converted. He has severe motion sickness, and cannot ride any rides. He doesn't play golf, the only activity at WDW that he has loved was the Water Mice! The last 4 trips or so, it's just been me and the 2 younger kids. I agree with you, toddlers would be very hard to corral by yourself!! I would not have attempted it, either! We started going alone when my kids got to be 9 or 10.

steveanddonna - LOL! My 16-yr.-old DS has decided thateverything bores him!! Luckily, DD still finds our trips fabulous!! We also have friends, family asking "Disney AGAIN?" They can't figure out why we want to go so much!!:teeth:

dizzneebabe - This will be my first CL stay, but already I'm impressed. You really should let the cm's do your PS's, they can get them when we can't. And, when CRO is swamped with calls, you don't have to spend all your time waiting on hold!!

:sunny:

Oh, I almost forgot!!

Congrats, VAgal76 - So happy for you, that you persisted and got what you really wanted!! Way to go!:teeth:

:Pinkbounc :jumping1: :jumping1: :Pinkbounc

Thanks again BT-For a pack with all that stuff doesn't seem outrageous at all! Thanks too for the advice-I will email them again as a b-day reminder.

Thanks BT for the advice, I will call this afternoon about a treat for the kids. I will not (knock on wood) forget anything on this trip. Last trip we made (to Saratoga Springs, the town) I forgot THE bag. You know, the bag with the makeup, hair dryer, medicine, perfume, toothbrushes, etc. It took all day to gather up what we needed, so now my husband is neurotic about making sure we have EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink, which we plan on picking up at B&C:hyper:

You're gonna love the Lodge. I love, love, love the Lodge. I'm doing the happy dance with you...:cool1:

Re: converting DH... Since his "thing" is skiing, I don't think I have any hope of finding a hook to get him addicted to WDW! I am happy he will go once a year (and he does have a good time). You're right K&A&C'SMOM...when the kids are older it will be easier to take them myself for more frequent trips.

STEVEANDDONNA...thanks for the kind words regarding my friend. I've known her since I was a baby. It is a hard time. I'm sorry about your loss last year. Times like these really make you think about all the things we should be grateful for. There really are such nice people on this thread. It's like our own little family. :)

Hurray VAgal76!
Congrats on the WL ressies.

Rhonda, 1st off, I can't believe I found another Illinoisan who calls it soda instead of pop! I've actually had a waitress in the city respond, "You mean like ice cream sodas?" when asked what kind of soda they served!
Your YC ctays sounds like a terrible experience, especially happening while you were 7 months pregnant. I hope it doesn't turn you off of concierge for good. In all of our stays, we have only had one not-so-wonderful experience with a concierge CM, and she was brand new and a little flustered. The problem got resolved eventually anyways. Concierge staff has done so many things to take our trips from good to magical, I can't even begin to list them.

WoodysRoundup, I don't suppose Blizzard Beach really would do the trick for DH, huh? Oh well, one can only hope that someday he'll see it our way!

Does anyone know the difference between views from the 5th and 6th floors? If we want savannah view, which is better? Thanks for the help.

Now I have never stayes there but I have toured the concierge area.

From what I saw, 6th floor gives you direct access to the concierge lounge but word on the street is 5th floor has better views of the savannah. I thought that many of the balconies on the 6th floor obstructed the view. Even the manager who toured the lounge for us said the same thing.

I will say that the lounge is very nice there. We will be staying there one day for sure.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Call me crazy, but I'm still dancing :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:!

What makes it better is that my DH doesn't even know why (LOL)!

Man, what's my counter look like :D? Rats, we still gotta while!

JDM_KDM - I hear the 5th floor gives a better view, but I also think the lounge is on the 6th. Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. So it depends on what is more important to you - the view or lounge :scratchin. No matter which one you go with, I heard it rocks there. I am still seriously contemplating splitting my stay just so I can check it out.:sunny:

EDIT - Well, it looks like you got it Fred!

Due to having non concierge room at the beginning of my stay, concierge in the middle, and non at the very end I requested to stay in the same room. While I'd love to be "near the action" as anyone would, I also LOVED my room at the VERY end of the hall on the fourth floor! Yes, I gave up "deluxe" for a few days to stay in the same room, but I had a deluxe view, all to myself, and that is what matters! We wouldn't race to the lounge or anywhere else for that matter. There are so many look out points it was a nice walk to the main part of the lodge. We would then walk towards the front elevator and take it to the sixth floor, or take the elevator down to the lobby if we wanted to be there. If we wanted pool level, we'd take it to the bottom and sneak out near simba's cub house. We were on Zebra Trail and I loved it!

In just over a week we'll be concierge for the entire stay! I am hoping for fifth floor, same area! So what if I have to walk to the lounge, the animals will be all mine! (when all you see is savannah out your balcony, that is really how it feels!) :)

Congrats VAgal on getting WL concierge! I think you will love it if its anything like what I have read!

k&a&c'smom>> Are you still calling? Are you packed yet? You're just about 0 on that counter of yours!

Great information about the prearranged gifts! We ahem... lost... yep lost our Pal Mickey. We need a new one! Poor guy made it through the trip, and I believe was lost near the airtran gates at MCO! I might have him waiting at check in, then again, we nkow where to find him and I can always send DS down with the room card to go purchase him again! (I know this seems like a waste, but we really did enjoy having him on our mom/son trip!) I promise not to lose him next time!

FOUR MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL! I left some desserts out for everyone to enjoy!

Hi steveandonna,

I always used to call it pop, but when I met DH, he and his family called it soda, perhaps because DH's grandfather was "Pop." Well, it just stuck. But, I learned early on that I needed to clarify things any time I used the word!!! LOL

We had a fabulous trip, don't get me wrong. It's not that CL spoiled our trip, they just didn't do anything to make it better, as we had expected.

We were just talking the other day about whether or not to book a CL room next time around, b/c it was so nice for the boys to get breakfast and snacks.

Hey, we were at Disney--the best week of the year for us--my B-day (ok, not so good lol) the 4th of July, our 11th wedding anni, and the 12 anni of when we met. It doesn't get ANY better than that!
