#1hockeymom - wow you are seriously convincing me to go concierge!!! There are 5 of us 2 adults 3 kids. We have shared a room at POR last year and all got on fine - in fact I quite enjoyed the family atmosphere- it was cozy. I never even thought of the lines at the food court:earseek: I do remember the serenity of the concierge lounge at the GF....sigh.....(although I had to take food up to DH as he is hopeless at getting out of bed on a morning:rolleyes: I must admit my girls behaved impeccably even though aged only 5 and 7, at concierge - I was so proud and received many compliments on how adorable they were... I think concierge must have worked some brainwashing behavioural thing on them;) Or I guess it was instinct as arent we all as females, born to be pampered:p

:wizard: :wizard: Here is some extra PD for your decision!

...and yes, we were born to be pampered AND act like ladies! :) *or gentlemen as the case may be!* I know my son's manners, and he KNOWS how to act, get even better when at the best restaurants and the nicer hotels! DD is 18 and just wants the pampering. I never *ok, rarely* worried about her manners as I swear she learned them before birth!

I loved using AKL's lounge as an escape from our room, to mingle with other people, and to just relax in. I have never NOT felt safe on Disney property, but with our last trip just being DS and I, the concierge lounge seemed to extend our "safe" zone and allow me to let down my defenses and really RELAX! (without just being in our room)

Debbie

I just checked out concierge level with AP discount for our stay. I wanted BCV or Poly but none of these is available at this time. Maybe when the next lot of AP rates come out something will be available.:D

My DH, DD and I are staying for our first concierge trip ever in exactly 35 days at the BC!:Pinkbounc

Then as a surprise for my DH we are staying at GF RPC deluxe concierge in October for his 40th birthday!:jester:

Tell me please, how much can these bites swell and will they have lingering effects to our future trips to WDW? LOL!:hyper:

And you'll love the Poly, even though it's not your beloved Lodge!!::yes:: We have switched allegiance to AKL, but the Poly still holds a special place in our hearts!:lovestruc

I was an ignorant fool back in May, 1997. I was upgraded to a garden suite at BWI (checking in as a cast member at the time) for a weekend stay, and I didn't know that:

1. The garden suites are part of concierge.
2. I should have taken advantage of the lounge more!

I wandered into the lounge one evening, during the dessert offerings, but if I had the info I have now, I would have gone in the lounge for the other offerings, too!

But, in 2001, I was a "conciege mooch". That is, I had a friend who would stay concierge, and she'd take me into the lounge as her guest. ;) We'd be at WDW for internet group gatherings, so it was only a matter of time before I'd want my own stay at concierge.

In 2002, I called to get an AP rate for the Polynesian garden view concierge, but the rate seemed WAY too good. I used a code published in the Mickey Monitor. After repeating, "Are you SURE this is the annual passholder rate?" a few times, I was convinced I got a great deal. I was sharing a room with two friends, one of them being the friend I "mooched" off of previously. :)

When the confirmation arrived, I noticed that the code used was a letter off of the code I thought I had, so I called CRO, only to find out that I had been giving the airline employee discount.
(CFR and CSR sound alike on the phone, but there should be no excuse for the agent to screw up "Charlie, Frank, Robert" when I called. I always verify codes by using names.)

When they told me that I'd have to pay a 500-600 buck difference, I asked if they had any AP rates at Port Orleans. :)
The agent put me on hold so I could repeat my situation to a supervisor. Apparently the agent and her supervisor believed I shouldn't be penalized for getting a code when I made every effort to verify the proper discount. Woo hoo!

My friends and I took advantage of the offerings, grabbed water and sodas each time we headed out, and we had a ball.

In November, a couple of friends and I shared a room at AKL's concierge, meeting up with another friend staying there. We all did the Sunrise Safari. (LOVED it!) One friend bought Haunted Mansion Clue, and three of us stayed in the lounge playing it for 3 HOURS STRAIGHT! (You can tell that we were WDW veterans by now, right? LOL)

I felt spoiled by concierge, and I'd love to do it again.

Great read. Thanks for sharing! :) :teeth: ::yes::

I finally bit the bullet and stayed concierge, now how do I return to a non-concierge stay?

We just returned from AKL Concierge, and yes it was wonderful. Will be returning to Disney in December, just DH and Myself (no GC this trip) Not sure where will be staying yet, but how do I justify staying concierge if we will be busy, busy, busy. I'm at the point of No Return

Bambi - where are you???

I just upgraded our April 6-8 stay at the Poly concierge to LV. Had been reading about the construction around the quiet pool, and didn't want to take a chance.

SOOOO - what requests should I make for Poly LV rooms in Hawaii?? (Still keeping secret from DD - so excited!!)

Ditto! Looks like I need to start another room/balcony view photo gallery for the Poly though this time. (Already have one started for WL - see my siggy)

We are staying LV Concierge at the Poly 5/15 to 5/23 and have already requested 3rd floor but what room? I was told that just about all rooms in Hawaii have a view of the castle but we want to make sure. :)

point of NO RETURN! ROTFL!:rotfl:

Justify your next busy stay by "ending" the last two days of your trip at a concierge room!
That way, you'll get that concierge "fix" to which you are now addicted.;)

Mamu...so good to see you again!
I enjoyed your posts years ago, whenI first joined on these boards. Didn't you live in Hawaii then?

Majestic and k&a&c'smom.....easy.
First floor....around 1505.
third floor, which is smoking optional, but we NEVER smelled smoke.....3505, or any one around that.
Those rooms are the closest to the lounge, ice machine, stairs, front entry, and offer great views of the castle.
More good LV rooms, on third floor, but way down the hall are
3509-16.
Might have a little bit of palm tree in your view, but all wonderful views of the castle!

I do LOVE the Poly concierge!

Was on the phone today with AKL concierge, and Susan there said she'd make sure I'd get my 6th floor deluxe poolview with bunks and daybed and queen.
Just a couple of steps from the latte machine!:teeth:
Also told her that it wouldn't hurt my feelings to upgrade us to a suite! ;)

Fred, I know you'll have a wonderful Poly concierge stay, even though it's not the WL.
But, it IS neat to try other concierges. ::yes::

k&a&c'amom....so HAPPY for you that you got LV concierge!:bounce:

Thanks for the tips! We are looking forward to our stay. It will be nice to try something different for a change. I tend to be a creature of habbit sometimes. It's nice to have some predictability on your vacation. Know what I mean?

LOL! Oh, yes, I DO, Fred!

Hey! With all this DISCOUNT Hoop-la going on on some of these threads...I mean some of them are really getting a tad nasty.
I mean, I like getting a good deal , too, but some of this stuff they're saying is ridiculous....

Methinks I might start a thread called....

"Excuse me, is this the RESORT board or the BUDGET board?"

Whatcha think? ;) ;)

I can assure you that if I post to it, the mods will close it. :)

You go girl! Woo!

YEAH! I have a good CM at AKL! I have been emailing Susan, too! I did find out today that fridges come with deluxe concierge rooms, according to her email back to me. I have requested my usual location, out in the boondocks right over my cattle family, but one floor higher! (darn it... wonder if that is a suite? LOL) Oh I am feeling good about this trip knowing that Bambi is talking to the same CM as I am!

I am wide awake, can't sleep.... DS was just recruited tonight by a travel hockey team and I swear I am more nervous/excited than he is! *he's sleeping soundly after 2.5 hours of practice tonight*

Sleep tight concierge roomies!
Debbie

I just got bitten last night!!

Not sure if any of you remember some of my threads where I wondered if concierge would be something our family would enjoy or not, and each time, I came to the conclusion that we'd be just fine without concierge.

Well I'd been thinking about it and when I read the thread about the Polynesian and concierge, I suddenly decided that I was GOING TO change our reservations from LV to LVC!!! We're going to be spending our entire time there (only 2 days) at the Polynesian, easing back to the real world after our 7-night Disney cruise, so there were several things that I finally realized that made me change my mind:

Location of the Hawaii building: I plan on relaxing at the volcano pool, DSs want to rent watermice, and this building is an excellent overall location. If we need to go to the room for anything, it'll be right THERE.

Excellent lagoon views from this building!

What if it rains? We'll have our room PLUS the lounge and the GCH to hang out in.

Teenaged DSs: I know they'll enjoy being able to go to the lounge for snacks and drinks, as will DH and I.

Diabetic DH: Being near to juice and breakfast foods right away in the morning will be a plus.

All of these things now are clear to me as being definite advantages to staying concierge! I don't plan on telling DH that I've changed our reservations until we arrive at the Polynesian that day :)

So....do I qualify as being "bitten", even though I haven't stayed concierge yet?? :sunny:

Thanks for the room info, Bambi!! We can't wait - like SeaSpray, we are bitten without even staying concierge yet!! Look out!!

Okay all you fellow concierge lovers.

Does anyone have the physical address for the Magic Kingdom Resorts Itinerary Planning Office?

I wanted to send some flowers to Marilyn for all her help in reserving the Grand 1 for our trip and they gave me the address where all the mail is delivered.

Thanks in advance.:D
