How many nights will you stay at your in-laws house?

we're only 45 minute from IL's...but if we were farther, ZERO! Let me put it into perspective...I love WDW. I put EVERY cent of spare change etc. into the vacation jar/account. If faced with having to remain at their home for a period of 24 hours or more...I would break into that change jar so fast and be at a Holiday Inn it would set a record. My kids have never stayed there either...y'know, if it was to be a late night out, get them in the morning....they begged us to never be watched by them. SAD.....but true. I would love to have things be different.

We stay 0 nights max. at my in-laws, since DH no longer associates with them. I think that DH and I spent 1 night there since we've been together (10 years). That was plenty, LOL!

We also stay 0 nights max. with my family. They are driving distance, so there would be no reason to stay over with them. We did try staying over for 1 night at their lakehouse, but it was a nightmare. We had to sleep in bunkbeds in sis's and my old bedroom. That didn't work out very well, so then we decided to try the pull-out couch. It was old and decrepit, and it actually slanted in towards the couch so we kept rolling downhill towards the couch all night long:rolleyes: Neither of us got any sleep. My parents were SO insulted when we bought them an Aerobed for XMas that year. They think that their lakehouse is just a paradise:rolleyes: We haven't been back there since.

We refuse to stay at my MIL's house...she has an antique bed in her guest room that is about 8 inches shorter than a regular bed, and narrower than a full...with a rock hard mattress..

I would love to stay with them...I just wish she would buy another bed..

0 for us. We ALWAYS stay in a hotel. It is easier for everyone concerned. Sleeping, bathing, etc.....etc...etc... We will spend most of the time at their house, however, it is nice to have our own "space" to return to at the hotel.

I would never stay at my in laws house! Omg, my MIL smokes one right after another!!

Yeah, you couldn't pay me enough to stay with them! Definitely a hotel if we lived far away, but they live right up the street!:p

When my inlaws were alive there was no way no how I would spend 1 night at either of their houses, or would they spend a night with us. I would gladly stay at a hotel before Id do that.
On the other hand Id have no problem staying with my parents or vice versa, but since we live 1/2 mile away from each other theres really no need. ;)

0-days. If MIL is having a good day, I will stay about 4 hours. if she is having a bad day about 30 mins.

ZERO!!! and that is all I'm going to say.

At my family's - about a week.

At in-laws - 0.

Been there/done that. Last time we stayed a weekend, MIL had to buy a new mattress for the guest bed because I unpacked my shoes and put them on the bed.

That was 5 years ago. Never again.

LOL...that's funny.

Well, we're EXPECTED to stay at their house, if we stayed in a hotel we'd insult them so much they'd probably never speak to us again. The only problem staying there though is that they like to eat one meal right after the next, and if I let myself, I could gain 5 lbs in 3 days.

It's funny though...when they come to NJ to visit, they've yet stayed at our house, and we even have a 3rd bedroom and bathroom. Oh well.

Regardless of whether it's my parents or In-Laws I prefer not spending the night. Both our families live just an hour away, so it's easy to turn down the invite to spend the night. We usually go up on Thanksgiving and/or Chirstmas day, stay the day, and drive down that evening.

0 - no room and they live close enough that we see them all the time. :D

Plus I've found with traveling with them 3 times in the last 4 years that we just don't mesh 24/7 like that. I love them to death and can take them in short doses, but not for real long periiods of time.

With family that is far away we'd still rather stay in a hotel. I don't feel comfortable in other peoples homes.

I was at their house for 3 months taking care of my FIL before his death. I stayed 4. weeks following my niece's 9/11 wedding, to take care of MIL after surgery.

I stay as long as I'm needed. When it's a regular visit , I'm usually there for a week.

None!! I would rather stay at a hotel where I can be comfortable than in someone elses house.
