How many luggage tags do you get when using Disney's Magical Express?

We will be going to WDW the week after Christmas and we need to pack for any kind of weather. We also want to check two strollers for our toddlers. We are just concerned as we have never used this service before as it is new.

We have an early arrival at 9:30AM and we want to go to a park asap after checking in at POFQ and getting our passes & dining vouchers. Since we will be checking our strollers, we understand we might have to do without or rent some for that first day.

Does anyone know if strollers may be claimed as a carry-on item....Delta?

By policy, you should receive 2 DME luggage tags for each person named on your reservation, including anyone under 3 for whom you bought an airline ticket. The idea behind that is that almost all airlines limit you to 2 checked pieces of luggage. Therefore, DME assumes you will have no more than 2 checked pieces per person.

I have 2 pre-schoolers (one of them under 3). Between them and my wife and me we received 8 DME tags. We didn't come anywhere close to checking 8 pieces of luggage. I think we had 3 (one for me, one for my wife, one for the kids), which left us 5 to play with -- more than enough to use for 2 strollers if need be.

BUT, all of the above is worthless information to you BECAUSE ...

You should gate-check your strollers
, which means you'll have them back before you enter the interior of MCO (so that you can actually use them to transport your kids in your home airport as well as in MCO). You'll have no trouble having the DME driver stow the strollers in the DME bus cargo hold, and then immediately unload them when you arrive at your resort. If you gate check the strollers, don't bother putting DME tags on them as they won't be needed. Drivers put carry-ons in the cargo hold as well (at the owner's choice or if they're too big to fit under the seat or on the overhead shelf). The DME tags are only for checked luggage that gets pulled behind the scenes at MCO before it would otherwise make it to the baggage claim carousel.

HAVE FUN!

I leave in 25 days - when should I expect my luggage tags? Or - does Delta have them on hand? I am signed up for Magical Express.

The airline has nothing to do with DME on your inbound trip. If you ask anyone from Delta about Disney's Magical Express they'll have no idea what you're talking about. You put the tags on your luggage so that after it arrives at Orlando, it gets pulled behind the scenes before it would have reached the baggage claim carousel. After that, it gets transported to your WDW resort. Delta has nothing to do with this process.

The tags should be mailed to you about 21 days before your departure. If you booked through a travel agency, the tags will be mailed to the agency and not to you, and you'll have to then get the tags from them.
