How many "Kate Gosselin" TOT's to you expect at your door for Halloween? Geez..

I sincerely doubt any trick or treaters will be wearing the Kate Gosselin wig. Little kids are the ones who trick or treat and the "joke" of Kate Gosselin is lost on them. My guess is that adults going to Halloween parties are the ones buying that wig.

:thumbsup2

That's exactly what I was going to say! Why on earth would a kid want to be Kate? If one of my kids told me that wanted to be Kate Gosslin for Halloween, I would be concerned. It makes no sense to me.

Sure, I can see a bunch of adults showing up at Halloween parties as Kate, and maybe getting a few laughs, probably winning a few contests. But kids as Kate trick-o-treating? Not a chance. In fact, when I take my kids shopping this week, I am going to see if they even have Kate costumes in kid sizes.

Sadly, I do not get the joy of seeing all the trick or treaters this year as we have moved to a place where Halloween only exists in theme parks:sad2:

I love seeing what the kids and teens (and creative, fun loving parents) come up with from year to year. I am not fond of gory/violent costumes, but I never make a negative comment or refuse to give candy just becuase i do not care for a costume:confused3 I even give candy to teens without costumes while gently chiding them about not wearing one (hey, there are much worse tings a teen can do than want a little candy once a year from strangers)I have actually been trying to think of a costume that would get that reaction from me and I can come up with two only two possibilities off the top of my head (neither of which I have ever seen being used as a costume other than appropriately in a theatre for a show): a Nazi Soldier of KKK member.

As others have said I doubt little kids will dress as Kate. I do think tweens or teens might. I do not see it as a problem. Kate put herself out there she has to live with it, and honestly her children have MUCH bigger problems to contend with.

Also, I think we are less "anyhting goes" as far as Halloween goes NOW than we were in the past. Now everyone is much more worried about being PC than they used to be. I never dressed as a "hooker" but I had plenty of friends who did and no one thought much of it. There were also lots of hobos. I think either costume would offend a lot of people these days.

Oh, puh -leeze...

If you have so little sense of humor that you would really turn children away from your door on Halloween for wearing a Kate Gosselin outfit, you have no business handing out candy in the first place. Just turn off your light, and post a big sign that says, "A grouchy old curmudgeon lives here."

Bet all those bloody face masks and Saw costumes are just fine, right? No harm in a little gore and violence, but ooooh!! Kate Gosselin costumes will lead to the decline and fall of the civilization!!!!

Amen to that! Especially since Kate is the one who put herself out there, prostituting her children to make a buck. I have nothing but disdain for that woman and if someone wants to wear a costume mocking her, more power to them.

Can't believe people would want to wear a peacock looking wig for halloween. Although it is halloween. :rotfl:

I don't think kids will be dressing as Kate Gosselin :confused3 It's more likely to be teens/adults.

She is a celebrity, by her own design, after all.... and people often dress as celebrities for Halloween. So I don't think it's a big deal.
Now, after Steve Irwin died, someone dressed as him for Halloween, in a very graphic way which reflected Steve's manner of death. That was tacky and tasteless, imo.

But it was still very funny...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Like others have said, I think that this is a costume that adults will be wearing, not kids.

On the other hand, we did have a few dressed as Drew Peterson last year. I think that it was probably because we live in the same neighborhood and the kids were constantly seeing news crews in front of his house. Now that he's in jail and not doing his media blitz, I don't think that we'll see any this year.
Some people were offended because his third wife, Stacy, disappeared shortly before Halloween 2007.

Right after Katrina, before we moved from Mississippi , my ds dressed as Jim Cantore for Halloween. Some folks were shocked, but thought it was funny. A few joked around that they were going to slam the door in his face.

I have heard Kate's hair referred to as a "possum". I think the entire costume store would have to be sold out before I chose that costume--too scary!!!

I'm sure this costume is for adults, not for tots. I doubt you'll get any trick-or-treaters. However, I fully expect to see many men dressed as Kate in the NYC Village Halloween parade. They usually present a tableu, so there will be a "Jon" wearing a ball and chain as well as eight adults walking on their knees. That event's costumes always represent the latest news and political commentary, plus drag queens galore. Always entertaining!

In any case, people are stupid. I had a ten-year old come to my door dressed as a pimp last year. Yes, a pimp - that's what his big sister (12) told me when he wouldn't say it himself. The adults with him thought it was hilarious! (Morons) He was wearing blue makeup and clothing, so I said "How about you just say you're one of the 'Blue Man Group?' They're much cooler than what your sister just said." He liked that solution, but I don't think he knew what the Blue Man Group was in the first place.

Wouldn't work on a teenager though - the ones that dress inappropriately (if any costume at all) will just steal/destroy your decorations if you say anything. They're looking to shock you, so don't react. Although I do like the stale candy approach, it's passive-aggressive.

But it was still very funny...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I would disagree with you.

I would have no problem with a Kate Gosselin costume...she's had no problem putting herself out there, so witht he good (lots and lots of $$$ and "celebrity") comes the bad...people are going to make fun of you when your life implodes on national TV.

But a costume parodying Steve Irwin's death? Nope, not funny and certainly not 3 :rotfl: worth of funny.

It's also childish. if you need to respond to a Halloween costume on that level, you should turn off your light and close your door. When did people get the idea they could pass judgement on Halloween costumes and "punish" those they thought wore inappropriate costumes? When did reasonable adults decide that it was perfectly fine to give year old candy to children?

Just give them rocks in their treat bag. ;)

hehehe - I was thinking of her when I replied to this thread last night.:rotfl:

It was to me!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think the Steve Irwin costume was in poor taste. He's dead, for goodness sake and left behind a wife and 2 young kids. Kate, on the other hand...I doubt I'd see kids in the cotumes. I think it'd be adults at adult parties, where I think it'd be pretty funny.

I didn't say it was in good taste - but I still thought it was funny!

C.Ann, I think you need to get some help. I say that in a very caring manner:hug:

Really? For having an opinion that differs from others? Well - that would mean every poster on the DIS "should get some help" - yourself included, because your opinion differs from mine.. ;)

And I say that in a very caring manner..

Only on the DIS..:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

No problem with adults.. As evidenced here, some have a rather "odd" sense of humor.. ;)

I can definitely see teens doing this - your "pimp" story is a perfect example of poor judgement..

Now if a child showed up wearing a Kate wig and pushing a stroller with 6 little ones in it, that would be "cute" - even though I am not a "Kate" or "Jon" fan by any stretch of the imagination..:)

Considering I won't be there to answer the door though, I guess it doesn't really matter.. I'll still be here at the lake - passing out peanuts to chipmunks and squirrels..:rotfl::rotfl:
