How many "Kate Gosselin" TOT's to you expect at your door for Halloween? Geez..

From what my DD was telling me, she saw something on the news saying that all of the "Kate Gosselin" wigs have now been sold out..

The concept is to wear the wig, a black leather mini skirt, high heels, and walk around with a tissue sobbing, "Everything I do, I do for my kids !!"

I don't think it's very tasteful at all, but clearly an indication of just how far reaching the ramifications are of this whole sorted mess..

Any "Jon" costumes out there? She didn't mention any reports on that..

I guess it could be viewed by some as "negative publicity is better than no publicity at all"..

I would want to turn away a child like that and turn and say to the mom with them, shame on you. What I'd probably really do is say, "Oh, making fun of a real person. Nice very nice." I'd shake my head at the mom in disgust.

I can't stand to see her on TV, on magazine covers, in all the tabloids, let alone show up at my front door. Maybe that's why I'd want to turn away a look-alike.

Normally I am at my DD's to pass out the candy while she and her DH are taking my DGD out TOTing.. I won't be there this year - unless the weather makes me leave the lake before my target date of November 1st..

However, if I were there (as much as I dislike Kate & Jon both for how they have allowed their children to support them instead of these so-called "parents" supporting the kids), I would NOT give out candy to someone who came to the door like that and I would likely scold them for exhibiting such poor taste..

Not only is it something that is being done in poor taste, but what if the Gosselin children happened to be somewhere and saw kids and/or adults dressed up like that carrying on with the sobbing and such? Those poor kids have already seen and heard waaaaaaaaay too much about their parents - including things that have come directly from Jon & Kate themselves..

About 2 weeks ago, during my DD's high school spirit week, (the week of homecoming) one of the theme-days was dress like a celebrity.

One of the senior class "funny guys" and a friend dressed up as Jon and Kate. The passed off a stoller of 8 dolls all day long. Apparently it was hilarious.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then.. I personally think it's in very poor taste and would likely do the same thing if some teenager arrived at the door intentionally dressed up to look like a "hooker" - or Jesus nailed to a cross.. Some things just aren't appropriate - even in this day and age of "anything goes"..

Of course on the other hand, I "could" just give them candy that was leftover from last Halloween - and not say a word..

I sincerely doubt any trick or treaters will be wearing the Kate Gosselin wig. Little kids are the ones who trick or treat and the "joke" of Kate Gosselin is lost on them. My guess is that adults going to Halloween parties are the ones buying that wig.

No - I don't think it would be little kids either - more likely teens.. Like the ones a few years ago that turned down the candy and wanted to know if I had cigarettes instead..

I wouldn't consider a Kate costume the most inappropriate costume out of your examples, but it would definitely be the scariest

I could hardly compare a Kate Gosselin costume to a costume of Jesus nailed to a cross. Like a pp said, I'm more disturbed by the bloody costumes and Scream masks than I would ever be by someone dressed as Kate.

Is it in poor taste? Probably. But I don't think Halloween has ever been governed by "taste." I wouldn't refuse someone candy just because they dressed in a costume that I deemed tasteless. As far as I know, the only requirement necessary for receiving candy is knocking on someone's door and saying "trick or treat."

well, it does'nt seem to be a popular choice around here. we were at one of the halloween super stores friday and while they were sold out of several costume items the two they had a GLUT of were the kate wigs and all things michael jackson.

I don't think kids will be dressing as Kate Gosselin It's more likely to be teens/adults.

She is a celebrity, by her own design, after all.... and people often dress as celebrities for Halloween. So I don't think it's a big deal.
Now, after Steve Irwin died, someone dressed as him for Halloween, in a very graphic way which reflected Steve's manner of death. That was tacky and tasteless, imo.
