If it makes you feel better to call it cheating then so be it.
I choose to follow what is the stated policy shared by CMs both in the parks and here on DIS and at both WDW and DLR for many years.
This is probably the most argued point here on DIS so I knew when I posted my response it would illicit such remarks.
Experienced Disney visitors know it to be a valid use of FPs- and plan accordingly. The CMs would not tell visitors in parks to come back anytime or you can return anytime after the FP is open if it were not allowed. Nor would they be trained to accept FPs past the return window.
We could get into nitpicking what is really meant by what is printed on the actual FP ticket.
Return anytime between xx and xx
does not say
you MUST return between xx and xx or
you can ONLY use between xx and xx.
It does however say
Valid only on date printed and
Cannot accept early arrivals
which implies it is good til park closes that day and can not be used before the return time.
Ill repeat-I have never ever been turned away when using a FP past the return window on any ride at any time- Soarin, TSM or whatever. Probably counting in the hundreds by now over many years- at least since FP was instituted. No CM has ever even batted an eye- they just collect my FP and I go ride. No questions asked, no comments made.
Whether that makes it bull or official unwritten policy or not- it is perfectly acceptable- it is not done to appease any complainers.
Its been a long time since I have read any Disney guide books, etc but I do believe UG, RideMax and others actually promote and encourage late use of FP as well. I dont consider it late use of FP- it is actually wise use of FP to me.
If you choose to only use your FP in its return window- that is your choice. But please do not stand in front of the FP entrance waiting around for your FP to mature- there are others that would like to get thru there and ride with their FPs when it best fits their park touring plan!
