Does the company you work for Employ ? Would you like it bigger or smaller ?

200-300 , I like that size

hubby's work has about 10 employees. It's a small company but growing quickly. There was a time where it was just hubby and the guy that started the place :)

My job... only employs me (well and hubby of course but I meant during the day) lol. Stay at home mom

In my location, 6, but the company is nationwide and there are many other employees at the other locations, we are just a small branch.

The law firm I work for employs 340 people. Professionally, it's where we should be. Personally, it's too many. I see huge layoffs when the housing market becomes more stable (we are a foreclosure firm).

There are 18 of us, but the church our preschool is part of employs many more than that.

Lets hope for lots of layoffs for you guys (except yourself)

The company that I work for has about 60-70.

There are usually around 15 people around during the day (2 shifts) and 10 around at night (2 shifts) and drivers checking in all the time.

But we are owned by a bigger company that employs about a thousand in the area.

7 It's a small General Dentist office.
The employee with the least amount of senority 6 years
The most other than the dentist himself 21 years !
I think that says a lot for our boss !

Our location, 90 (was 120 before layoffs). Sadly, BEFORE layoffs were at at skeleton staff level. Our corporation, about 46,000 employees over 104 locations.

About 750 in here in Canada, and about 200 in North Dakota. Can't ever seem to get enough staff hired always running short handed. We have great benefits and are payed well above national average, work 4 on 4 off so I always have long weekends, but people don't stay. :confused3 We have had to bring in people from other countries to fill job postings. Lots of Americans and Brits.

I've worked for large companies (> 50,000) and small companies (<10). And I've audited (on a recurring basis) dozens of companies, gaining some significant insight into how good it would be to work at many of them. I didn't see any significant pattern whatsoever. There are large companies that are great to work for, and large companies that are terrible to work for. There are small companies that are great to work for, and small companies that are terrible to work for. Even within a company, where in the company you work, what job you do (and how important your work is to the company) have far more impact on how enjoyable working would be.

So basically, I don't care how big or small the company is... what matters to me is whether my work is viewed as critical to the company's success.

DH works for a company that employs about 30,000 people world wide. Here, I think there are about 3,000.

Well, there is my wife, myself, one full time and one part time employee. Course we have a contract with the largest insurance company in the US to sell only their products. There are something like 70,000 employees and 17,000 agents (my wife is an agent) with that company.

Well, the commercials on tv say we have 70,000 employees. So I will go with that. Our location is probably about 1000 to 1500. My department is about 80-90 people and still growing.

I worked at a much smaller company (maybe 150) before and I will never go back to a small one. I like my much larger one much better.

In our office (headquarters for our chain) we have about 150 people but not everyone sits at a desk. Our stores/tech services/commissaries employ probably at least 7,500 people, and our parent company is "the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States"* so I don't know how many they employ, but it's got to be a lot! *(quoted from a news source). Wow!

DH's branch has about 150. About 1/2 the employees as years' past. I'm not sure how many they employ internationally. It's not a HUGE corporation, but still good sized.
Me-1. I'm self-employed and I like it that way.

There are disadvantages to working for a national company, especially here in California where our labor laws and benefit needs seem so different than the rest of the nation. My last job, were were the only location in California. Corporate had to put out a 15 page supplement to the Employee Handbook just for us, because some of their policies were actually felonies here. For example, if you resigned with less than 14 days notice, you lost any vacation time you had on the books. A co-worker gave 13 days notice, and was told he would not be paid for his 4 weeks of vacation on the books. He did a little research, pointed out there was a $10,000 fine in California for doing that, that the boss could be subject to criminal prosecution, and that he could civially sue them for punitive damages equal to 10 times the value of the vacation time, plus his legal costs. He got a check for his vacation time on the spot.
