How many different supermarkets do you shop at regularly?

I think this thread is interesting as DH & I have been having an ongoing conversation about our grocery shopping options in our area. Between the two of us we have to hit 4 different stores in our area to find all the items that we purchase. Such a pain! We regularly shop at Sam's, Walmart, Harvey's, and Publix each week.

Thanks for all your responses. I used to worry about spending too much time going to different stores/markets to be worth the savings but now I see plenty do and I have also fitted it into my schedule a bit better.

Super WalMart, Food Lion, Ingles, local produce stand, Sams once a month or two for certain bulk items. Getting ready to add Aldis since I am retired now. All except Ingles and Sams are a few miles from my son's school. I scan the fliers each week and buy according to what is on sale.

so one of my regular supermarkets recently changed ownership and I'm rethinking my shopping patterns since the new owners (major chain) have a different product range. Of course to get the best deals I could easily go to 3 supermarkets per week but I always viewed that as not worth my time. How many do you go to each week (I view weekly shop as necessary as certain fruit and vegetables have to be bought that often)? At what point is it too many just to make the savings?

I only shop at Wegmans. With their consistent prices I feel like I'm mostly getting the best price I can. Plus I really hate dealing with sales and coupons and making sure that everything rang up correctly. The other big supermarket in my area does a bunch of different promotions every week and every time I've gone there they make a mistake and I have to wait in line at the service desk...so annoying.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm driven by environment. I always have a pleasant shopping experience at Wegmans so that's where I continue to go. If the other stores in my area provided a better experience, I would probably make an effort to take advantage of their sales.

One main one weekly (75% of my shopping money and time), one every 3-4 weeks (Aldi), and one for my spouse to make odd-single-item pick ups (it's right next to his gym)...

1 the commissary. That is my weekly place to shop but we also will grab a few things every once in a while at Wegmans and the Giant.

I shop at many different stores but usually only 1-2 per grocery trip. I find I spend way too much if I go to multiple stores. In order of where I shop most

Aldi
Giant eagle
Walmart
Target
Heinens
Costco
Trader Joes
Whole foods

Back in our home state of So California, Inland Empire, we only went to Stater Bros even though we also had Ralph's, Vons, Alpha Beta, Albertsons, Lucky, WalMart, Trader Joe's to choose from.

Now, we go to Kroger since our DD is a pharmacist there, but we augment with Target, FreshMarket (for meat), Whole Foods, World Market, Trader Joes (of course), Lucky's, Costco and WalMart and, in Summer, a local Farmers' Market. Whew!

We are very lucky that we live in an area with lots of options. We watch the sales and go between Target (our main one) Sprouts, Whole Foods (for a select few items that they have at a good price) ad Trader Joe's.
