I am trying to complete the details of a trip this summer. We will be spending two nights on our way down to WDW at HHI, and then three nights on the return from WDW again at HH. There are two nights bvefore the return to HHI that need to be filled. I didn't want to use a lot of points on a DVC resort, those two days being Fri and Sat. I booked a cash ressie at a deluxe, but wondered if I'd be regrettint the short stays at HHI.

How many days is just enough to fulfill the need for a HHI vacation? I stayed for almost a week at VB, and found that to be just a bit much. I loved, loved, loved VB, but found it to be a bit boring after the first few days. I would definitely go back to VB for maybe four nights.

Based on my experience at VB, I am wondering what is the optimum length of a HHI trip. Maybe I could get a cash ressie at HHI, but I think that would be way out of my price range during the summer.

We stayed for one night at HHI in Feb 2002 on our way home from WDW and the Disney cruise to NJ just to break up the ride. We thought it was very nice and would like to go back there, but I think 3-4 nights would be more than enough. It would be great to take a restful vacation there. There is a beach club that you have to drive to but it is very nice.

3 to 4 would be good. We've stayed anywhere from 1 to 5.

Keep in mind that check-in and check-out days do not give you full days at the resort, especially if you are traveling a lot. So for example a 3-night stay, checking in about 6 pm and checking out at 10 am really only gives you 2 full days at the resort.

Sidebar:

I always hate it when someone advertises a 7 days, 6-nights vacation plan somewhere. Really 6 nights only gives 5 full days, but they don't advertise it that way.

I'm certain you won't regret the extra time at HH ,given that driving from WDW to HH is a good 6 hours, if you're looking to cut cost I would leave WDW late afternoon/early evening on the Friday ( having enjoyed the facilities at WDW) and drive the majority of the way to HH ( stopping for dinner to break the journey) I'd then get a motel off the freeway, preferably north of Jacksonville as you're then less than 2 hours from HH. Book into HH early the following morning and pay one night on $$$. It is usually easier to get a good deal at HH that at WDW.

Thanks all. I think what I've decided is to stay with SOG at Contemporary on a pretty good rate. It will be more, of course than staying at a Courtyard or Red Roof Inn, but I wouldn't mind it as much. I am so spoiled on hotels now. The pain of paying the extra for in-between days won't be so bad, and I won't waste points for staying less than twenty four hours, having to leave early to drive to HHI. There are no DVC rooms available for cash, now. I called CRO, and the rate is $265 for a studio at this point. No discounts available.

I thought the drive was supposed to be only five hours - - - -is it "a good six"!!! I start falling asleep at the wheel after three.

I'll let you know which day I will be driving, so you can stay off the road, just in case............
