How many days in each park?

This will be our first WDW trip, me, DH and DS (9). We want to do rides, shows and fireworks. As for the rides, most of the one's we'll do will NOT include most of really wild ones (IMO) such as Mission Space. I'd read that AK could be done in about 5 hours. I want to make sure we see the "not to be missed" shows.

How much time and/or days in your opinion do you think we'd spend in each park? We will only the do the four main parks and go to DTD one evening.

Thanks!

I have 4, 6, 8 1/2 and we always give 2 days for MK, 1 for AK, 1 for Epcot, 1 for MGM. MGM is really hard to do in 1 day because all the shows have set time. We did it last year with hardly anytime to spare between shows. We actually missed 2 because of the time.

First of all it depends on what kind of style your going to do. Will it be commando or relaxing. It also depends on the crowds as well.

Now this is just a rough idea, because there are some who have gone for 10-12 days and haven't seen everything on that trip. Now I like to do it very relaxing and take my time at each park, plus I'm go solo, so I would say

MK 2-3 days
Epcot 2-3 days
MGM 1-2 day
AK 1-2 day

Like I said this is just an idea and actually most of the time I don't even plan what parks I'm doing on what days anyways.

We always do multiple days in the MK and 1 or 1/2 day in the other parks. We dont like Epcot so we only go over for a couple of rides and sometimes walk around the countries. The AK can be done in less than one day for us, so we either spend one day there, or part of the day and then hop to another park. MGM usually takes a whole day for us and then multiple for MK. This trip we are doing Ak -1 day, MGM- 1 day, Epcot- 1/2 day, and MK-2 days plus a separate night for MVMCP. 6 park days total with a 5 day MYW hopping ticket with 1 MVMCP ticket. Cant wait to get there!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

As the other posters said, it really depends on when you go -- crowds, weather, if the parks are open longer hours, if you want to do character meals, etc. If you want to take your time and catch even the little things like performers, characters, then it will take a little longer. The four parks can be done in four days, but that means getting up early, staying late, and skipping a lot of things in the parks. We normally do at least 2 full days at the MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 at MGM, 3/4 at AK, and a day at the water park, pool or DTD to slow down and catch our breath.

Since this is our first and could very well be our only trip to WDW (we live so far and it's quite expensive for us to travel), we will probably go semi-commando style. We plan to do a lot of hopping too. Your input is really appreciated so keep them coming!

To our family, the "Disney" experience is best summed up in the Magic Kingdom. So we always spend at least two days there. If you're not up for the "scary" rides (Which I don't blame you about Mission: Space. My thirty-something year old cousin about hurled after that one. And she has an iron stomach.), you won't spend a whole lot of time in Epcot. But I would give it a full day. I think the World Showcase is a lot of fun to stroll through. MGM always rates a day and a 1/2 (at LEAST) for our family simply because we like the atmosphere and shows. Animal Kingdom isn't all that great if you've ever been to the zoo. But I would schedule a full day there during the middle of your vacation. I would arrive early in the morning. That way, if you get there and find out you're not impressed, you can always leave and go to one of the other parks for a half day. Also, early in the morning, the animals tend to be out and about more than in the afternoon.

I hope some of that helped!!!

Don't forget to schedule in "forced" rest days. I have 2 and 1/2 rest days scheduled in my trip so the other days are commando. 2-MK, 1.5-Epcot, 1-AK, 1-MGM. Since it is so busy the time of year I am going, I know I will not cover it all. Have fun!
