How many days have you stayed at a DVC resort and NOT gone to a park?

Just another curious question!!!!! We have NEVER not gone to a park. Sure we have had a couple of NO PARK days, but I would love to know if people go for a good length of time and never go to a Disney park. Thanks. ;)

We get annual passes so we usually hit a park every day...but often just for an hour or two. Sometimes we go in just for dinner or to ride a few rides. I really love having APs for that reason. We don't feel like we are wasting a hopper day by going in for just a few hours.

We sometimes don't visit a park on our check-in day (depends on what time we arrive) and don't usually go into a park on our check-out day. We've also spent a few days over the years (maybe 6 or 7) at the Universal Parks or at Sea World.

We haven't stayed on our DVC points yet, but in years past we scheduled days at the resort. It's nice to just sit around and appreciate the fact that you're in The World. It's also sort of a statement of luxury: "Hey, look at me! I have so much time that I can spend a day of my vacation sitting around the pool, sippin' a cool beverage."

Along those lines, one of my goals in life is to do what I would consider the ultimate in conspicuous vacation time consumption: Go to MK at rope drop on Saturday (or, preferably, a holiday when it's terribly busy), then head straight for the main street bakery, buy breakfast, and sit at one of those tables at the corner by Tomorrowland, slowly eating breakfast while watching those poor desperate souls rush to get on a few rides before the wait times hit 2 hours. Meanwhile, there I am, munching on some good food and enjoying my time in the World, content that I've got so many days left that it doesn't matter when I get around to riding anything.

That sounds good. :thumbsup2

We just came back on 8/28. We were at OKW for 5 nights and we only went to Magic Kingdom one day. And it wasn't even the whole day! We got there around 11 and left around 5:30. We were supposed to go to MGM the next day, but when we got up on Wednesday, the kids asked if we could just go to the pool intead. I gotta tell you it was a WONDERFUL vacation! We had the best time hanging out at OKW and going to DTD. We went into Celebration one evening for dinner and would have stayed longer except for that nasty thunderstorm.

I would do it this way again in a heartbeat!

We have done a few short trips that were resort only and absolutely loved it. We anticipate more and longer resort trips in the future. the parks are great and we love them too but I think they will now be reserved for showing off to friends and relatives. When we have time for ourselves-we'll hang out and relax in our new home.
You'll notice from the signature that we are on our way to VB and HH this fall for just that reason--relax in Disney-style without doing a theme park!

Where in Celebration would you suggest? We've never been there. Is it nice to visit?

We have only eaten at 2 places the Italian restaraunt and the Market Street cafe. We should have gone for the Italian because the Cafe wasn't that good.

I like Celebration and wished that we had more time to walk around, but because of the storm we couldn't. We did see a live alligator floating around in the pond after we ate.

DD(26) and I were just at SSR in July for 5 days and never darkened the doorway to a park. Loved it! :goodvibes

Our first trip HOME several years ago.....we spent 5 nights at BWV, and never once stepped foot in a park. This is one of the most memorable trips we've taken since buying in. I'm actually thinking of doing it again sometime soon!

We have a 5 night stay over NYE this year booked at AKV and we will not have any park tickets nor plan to. We have a few nice meals scheduled, plan to hit downtown disney some, and tour some of the other resorts.

We haven't done that yet, it sounds like an interesting idea. There are many things outside the parks that we've yet to do, even after 10 trips. We have decided next June to go to Vero Beach instead of WDW.

VB & HHI make up 75% of our visits. We like to hit WDW about every 3-4 years to see the new stuff. Last time there we lucked out with getting special DVC entry to Soarin before it opened. We'll be doing the F&W festival next year.

We went in April after a four night cruise. We spent three nights and four days at WDW at the AKL villas. No parks at all! We were between AP's and it wasn't worth it to us to get them or to pay the higher price for tickets. We spent a day at the pool, a night at PI--just the early free shows at AC! Then to the West Side to browse through the shops, another afternoon at the pool followed by an evening at the Marketplace at DTD. And a day just enjoying the resort/pool. It was restful and relaxing and I would do it again.

In Septemebr of 2007 we went to a convention with DH. We did not get park tickets for that either, we swam and shopped and enjoyed CSR and then we did pay for a Halloween party at MK so got in at 4pm. DH and I decided to add 1/2 day convention tickets to the reservation though because fo F&W--so we did go to Epcot for 1/2 day and enjoy F&W.

Haven't done it yet, but as of last trip we all spent the majority of our time doing non-park things at the resorts, DTD, etc... That is how we vacation now, and with APs we tend to do parks for a few hours at a time. At SSR we made no less than 3 trips to the spa and did considerable pool time at both SSR and BCV.

Now that I go an average of 3 times/year, it's nice to take a break from commando tours at the parks :)

7 days at AKV no parks!
Our trip was just last month. Probably one of the best trips ever!
Plan on writing a TR when I have time.
In a nutshell, it was our 15th anniversary, and just wanted to relax.
Resort was amazing. Never felt "bored". Got two massages each from Rachael R. and we thought the massages were some of the best ever!
Ate at Jiko twice because it is the best restaurant on property!
Can't say enough about AKV!!!!!
