How many AP's do not have reservations and are waiting?

We have been making the yearly trek to WDW for years now, mainly in October.
I am a planner. I have my vacation file and I spend the year prior to our trip booking rooms, buying tickets, reserving rental cars, saving money(!) and checking these boards. My file is ready for our next trip minus the all important resort confirmations.
I am really wondering how many people are going nuts not being able to book rooms with an AP rate. I hate loose ends. I feel like a room won't be available for us if I wait (October 4-14), but I cannot afford to lose money by booking now and then changing to an AP rate with modification fees or any other new policies they may come up with.
I know I'm not alone, but I need re-assurance that a bunch of people are in the same predicament.
I'm eating too much chocolate because of this,
PLEASE DISNEY RELEASE SOME AP RATES THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR SOON!!!

I don't mind if I can book with some kind of code. We're there right after you. I'm not nuts yet, I know if Disney doesn't come up with AP rates, there's plenty of off-site bargains to be had. But my friend that's going with us is getting a little nervous....

I'm not going nuts quite yet, but that's because we're going the 1st week in December and not in October like you are. But my dh and I were discussing the possibility of no AP discounts over dinner tonight and we're talking about staying off-site (! I can't believe it!) or maybe the Swan--the AP rates they're advertising right now are great, but we were really hoping for WL, so I haven't been able to bring myself to book the Swan. It's hard to believe WDW is going to forsake its AP holders, but I guess it could happen.

As far as I know, the FTP doesn't exist after November, so maybe they'll have codes for December, but at this point, I'm only hoping, not counting on it.

ps: I had carrot cake tonight. In another month, I may have to switch to chocolate!

About a month or so ago, my Mom and I were thinking of throwing in an "extra trip" the first week of October, we've never been to MNSSHP (ok, any excuse to go will do! :D ). We got new AP's in May, so passes are taken care of. I got an e-mail from a farewatcher that USAir had flights for $160, so I booked the tickets! I chose Oct 1 to 6 since Oct 1 was the last day of value season, I knew we could get lower rates for the whole trip. First time I ever booked air before room. I am a DVC member but don't have extra points to use. We really want to stay at Boardwalk Inn or Villas. I checked disney.com and both have availability for our dates. I thought of renting points but don't want to commit to that since my mom has health problems. So I'm waiting for AP rates.... She even asked me today if I got a room yet, I said no, she says I hope we don't end up sitting on a corner with our luggage! I said I'm sure that willn't happen, we'll find something even if it's offsite (gasp!). There's no way I'm paying rack rate, never have. BWI is $289 for standard, same for a studio at BWV. No way! I paid $169 AP rate plus tax for one night at BWI last December. As I said in another thread, I am really getting annoyed that they are sending out random postcards and e-mails with discounts and nothing for AP Holders. We both signed up for e-mails on disney.com but we're probably being filtered out since we have AP's. I'm still pretty confident they will come out, but I would like to get this settled so I know how much for budget for.

DebbieB -- I just wanted to say that we're AP holders and we did get an email with the discount rates, so I don't think they're filtering out AP holders .... but of course the email doesn't cover the dates we're going. If it were transferable, I send it to you--but it isn't. There doesn't seem to be a way to figure out who got the emails and why, altho it probably does have something to do with the website, but what, I don't know. Did you enter the sweepstakes? I did. Well, you probably did too. Hmmmmm.

And we booked our flights for December already--the fare was too good to wait for, so I know how you feel!

We are waiting as well - while I don't think Disney could add on cancellation charges to a CRO ressie retroactively - the terms are right on the confirmation, I don't feel it is right to make ressies, knowing that I can only stay if codes are released. If Disney thinks they are selling enough rooms at full rates - why should they issue codes to sell off the remaining rooms?

So - I am impatiently waiting!

Well, I am going to be very honest here, I have FTP booked for my next trip and with the room I want I don't think AP is going to beat it. I only renewed with AP instead of PAP so will use the UPH for the water parks and DQ. I saved $1112 off rack rates on the room if I just deduct the price of the package and then the UPH are an extra bonus.

I have just the DC rate for our room in Dec. and looked into the Dolphin, but I think I am prepared to pay the extra $1000 for BWI if AP rates or codes don't come through.

Call me crazy but my kids are getting older and these trips are very important to us. Thank goodness they love it as much as we do soon my oldest will be off to college!:o

I also am an Ap holder and I booked the FTP for our upcoming trip. I called Disney to see if I could drop myself off the reservation, since I already have a pass, they said they would have to cancel everything and redo the whole thing, and my savings would only be 21.00! So I told them to forget it. I might just have to take another trip using my ap before it expires{lol}.

AP holder and DVC. I decided to give my money to the SWAN with the AP rate for OCT. I guess Disney doesn't want my money because (THEY DIDN'T RELEASE ANY AP OR CODES YET) wow, sorry for yelling but that's how I feel. I'm just happy that I can get a good rate with my AP before it expires.

I'm waiting too. I want to go from Sept 9th thru the 16th. I'll do something by Wednesday of this week no matter if the AP rates are out or not. If they don't materialize, at least 1/2 my trip will be spent off site.

I don't have my AP yet, (waiting until our big trip next year), but I have been telling a good friend of mine how great the savings are with the AP, and she has booked a 2br at VWL for the Thanksgiving weekend hoping for the AP rate. I hope Disney comes through for her, I think she's paying about $1600 for 4 nights!!!! She could really use the discount! Keeping my fingers crossed and checking the boards everyday for her.

We are waiting on AP discounts to book. Have thought about Swan, but really wanted two rooms this trip, and didn't want to spend more then $200 total per night. If pass discounts come out we will probably start with one room at AKL for a few nights then move onto, FW cabin, or two rooms at a moderate. May be willing to go a little higher for a 1 br at OKW, but it doesn't seem like the discounts there are quite as high (%) as the regular rooms. If they don't come out we are seriously considering renting a house offsite.

We are going to be at WDW from Sept 8 thru 21 and our staying at Royal Plaza for $50 a night. This will be our first time staying offsite after 20 plus WDW trips. I am so mad at Disney too think this is how they treat there loyal AP holders. I cannot believe they would have florida only codes & special e-mail rates and such and leave AP holders out in the cold. We'll I say good bye Disney if this is how they feel. This will be our last trip for a long long time. I know that there is no guarantee that they will have special rates for AP holders, but we are the ones who make more than one trip a year so I think it is a slap in the face the way they have done this. Thanks everybody for letting me vent my frustation with Disney.......

We have APs and are booked at the ASM (at the rack rate) for two different stays (with a DCL cruise in the middle) in October. We hope AP rates come out for AKL or WL. If no Ap rates we will just stay where we are booked now.

I'm w/ Paults. I think we'll book the AP at the Swan or Dolphin! It's a good rate for a deluxe resort! And I'm getting the feeling we are NOT going to be seeing any AP codes coming out real soon , IMHO! I just wish Disney would say "Hey, we're not going to give out AP codes!" It would make my life a lot easier. I think I could finally get some SLEEP!

I'm an AP holder, and this October 14-18 will be our third trip to Disney since last December, so 3 trips in less than a year (but our FIRST MNSSHP)! I went ahead and booked the Swan for the 16 and 17 at the AP rate, but they have NOTHING available for the 14 and 15, at either Swan or Dolphin. I call back every day to check. In the meantime, I decided yesterday to go ahead and book the Contemporary, which I WAS able to do for all 4 nights.(We've done the GF and Poly.) I did this because I felt I would have a better chance of getting an AP rate on that room if I already had a reservation, and it's a guaranteed four nights in one place. However, I also know that if you don't call quickly when the rates come out, the number of AP allotted rooms may be gone. Having said all that, if I could get the 14 and 15 at the Swan, I wouldn't have any problem staying there at all. We've done both the Dolphin and Swan, and like them fine. And, depending on the final AP rate at the Contemporary, I may choose the Swan anyway.

I feel the same. I'm dying to book my October trip, but have been waiting for codes or AP rates to come out for that time period. If the rates are good enough I'd like to add an extra day, so I haven't bought my air tix yet ($130 r/t right now!). I'm thinking of just booking a discounted rate at the Dolphin and forgetting about the WDW resorts this time. It's a shame, though, because I'd rather try the WL this trip, but I'm *not* paying rack rate!

I don't know when in October you are going, but I think both the Dolphin and Swan are pretty booked for that month. I sat around for a couple of days when the AP rate for those hotels was announced, and when I did call, I couldn't get anything at the Dolphin (even the teacher rate, which I was considering doing-have to update my certificate) and the only open dates for the Swan at AP and teacher rate were the 16, 17, and 18. Again, I was only asking for that week, but the woman told me they were really full for the whole month. Since you can cancel 5 days out with no penalty, you may want to go ahead and try to make a reservation. I've seen on the boards that a lot of people are "thinking" about doing so, and I hope that they can get their dates. I'm still needing that Tuesday and Wednesday.

Count us among those waiting. Though since our trip isn't until Christmas, I doubt if I'm as anxious as some of you. The WL is where we have planned to stay from the start, but the AP rates at the Swan sure are tempting me.

We are planning on staying at the moderates, rack rate is $144. Swan/Dolphin is the same or more once you add in the resort fee. We may end up at the All-Stars if AP rates never surface. (which is OK by me, just not my first choice.)
