How long will Christmas decorations remain up at resorts/parks?

Not trying to rush the season, but we're planning a week long trip starting Jan. 4. Is there a chance some of the decorations will still be up? Curious as I've seen differing bits of info from previous years.

A lot of decorations remain up through marathon weekend, which is January 7-11, 2026, so you should see a lot of them. Typically the first things to go will be any decorations associated with food or entertainment that have already ended, such as resort gingerbread displays and festival booths at Epcot. I have arrived on MLK weekend and still found some decorations up, but they were pretty much all gone by the following weekend.

Our experience has been that the Christmas decorations at the parks will remain up the longest. We have seen them up until after the marathon. But the resort decorations start coming down right after New Year's Day.

I think World Showcase is usually among the last to go.

Last year the Showcase Christmas stayed up through January 17!

I think that may have been the longest they've stayed up-it overlapped the first day of Festival of the Arts!

Holiday decorations thread a lot of the dates are tracked here for when decorations go up, but there are also some reports of when decorations have come down -- last year some resorts removed decorations as early as 1/2, but others didn't come down until 1/10. So it's possible the resort may still be decorated, and it's very likely as mentioned above that you'll see decorations around the parks!

Love this group for info like this! Much appreciated all!!

We saw quite a few decorations up when we went for Marathon Weekend (around 1/7)-I remember going on the Jingle Cruise-however that Monday everything was "back to normal", no more decorations-the elves must have been super-busy that Sunday night!

It will go away gradually. You will still see most Christmas decor up on January 4 (inside of New Year’s week). However, most Christmas snacks or dishes will go away later in the week you’re there. Any holiday gifts or clothing will likely get sent over to the Disney Character Warehouses at DEEP discounts.

This. ^^^

The park decorations will remain up through the Sunday of the WDW Marathon weekend (which features the full marathon 26.2 mile race through all 4 theme parks). In 2026, the Full will be run on Sunday, January 11, 2026. As for the resorts, it's a lottery among them to when they go up and when they come down. So there is no reliable schedule or predictable plan for any particular resort year-by-year.

PS - the decorations in the theme parks come down rather quickly following that Sunday morning race (I did the Full twice - it's awesome). Most (in my experience) come down Sunday night. There might be stragglers as I don't hit all 4 theme parks on a Monday after finishing a FullM but don't expect much decorations or holiday ride overlays after Sunday 1/11.

On January 14, 2025 I was surprised to see the Christmas tree and holiday decorations still up in Animal Kingdom and in Magic Kingdom. The next morning, on January 15, 2025 all the Magic Kingdom decorations and Christmas tree were gone. At Epcot the Christmas tree and decorations were still up at the American Pavilion on January 17, 2025.

Usually stay up to the middle of January, although they start taking down at the resorts a lot earlier
