How long were your newborns in size 1 diapers?

I would never pre-buy diapers beyond a package or two.

DS7 never wore newborns and only wore size one for about 2 weeks. DS4 wore preemie diapers for about a month, then newborns for about a month, then size 1 for about 2-3 months. DS2 wore newborns for about 2 weeks, size one for about 4-6 weeks, size 2 for a few months, size 3 for a few months and size 4 four over a year.

BTW, DS7 and DS2 were born the exact same size and weight. DS4 was 1/2 inch smaller and just under a pound smaller. DS4 has no butt, he's just back and crack. :lmao: If you could see him, you'd understand. DS2 had the biggest little behind for the longest time, it's coming down in size though. We used to joke he found DS4s butt on the way out. DS7 is typical, normal, average.

rt2dz, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Thanks!

Not my children, but here's what happened with these two:

Troy, 5 lbs, 10 oz at birth, wore size 1 until 14 weeks (just over 3 months). That's when he reached 13 lbs--just before our WDW visit last December! He finished off his size 1 diapers the first few days at WDW, then switched to the size 2s that we brought with us.

Abi, 6 lbs, 8 oz at birth, wore size 1 until about 7 weeks. That's when she reached 13 lbs--just before our WDW visit last December!

It really depends on the size of the baby and growth rate. Troy is almost 9 months and is pushing the end of his size 3 diapers. He'll probably graduate to size 4 in a couple of weeks. Abi is 7 weeks younger and has been in size 4 for about 3 weeks. The size 4s are a wee bit big, but the 3s were getting snug--and they ran out of them!

Your welcome. If we can't joke at the expensive of our kids, what can we joke about? ;)

Seriously, diaper size is all about the size of their rear ends.

Mine were a long time ago. Son started in size four (?) (adopted, so he was six months). Daughter is bio, and I want to say she wore newborn and size one diapers for approximatly 2.4689 seconds.

We bought size four for a long time, those newborn diapers, they came and went from life really fast for us.

My dd just moved up to a size 2. She is 3.5 months.
I bought the pampers swaddlers size 1-2 (it's a combination size, I guess, for inbetween those two sizes?) from Amazon (great price!) and we are trying to use those up right now.. they are getting snug!

I never bought diapers ahead of time.....my kids were always larger than average (still are). When both were born, the nurses had to put back the packs of newborn diapers they had out and go get packs of size 1 (DS was 8.5 pounds, DD was over 10!). So they had both outgrown size 1 diapers by around 1 month old. I'd wait to buy diapers or buy them in a variety of larger sizes so that way you don't potentially waste money on the size 1's if you don't end up needing them for very long.

By the time my DS (now 6) was born, I had stockpiled about 1000 diapers, in sizes from 1-4. He was my first and probably only child, so I was trying to be prepared. I had about 300 each of size 1, 2, and 3 and about 100 size 4. This worked out perfect for us. DS was 9 lb 8 oz and 22" at birth. I didn't have to buy diapers until I had returned to work (and had money coming in again) and the sizes I had were just fine. That said, he was 20# by 6 months and almost 30 by 1 year. Now at 6, he's back in the normal range.

If we were to have another one (not likely as DSD is 16 now) I would probably not buy too many ahead of time as I doubt it would work out as well another time.

My son never wore them. He weighed 11 lbs 0.2 oz. at birth! Yes, everyone thought I gave birth to a three month old! My Dh had to return the one pack of newborn diapers we had gotten as a gift because they wouldn't fit. They used to have size 1-2 diapers that we got at BJ's and those fit him for a while. They were essentially 2's, I think, but with stretchy sides. I would be more likely to stock up on biger sizes now, because you know you'll use those at some point. You just never know about the smaller sizes.

11 pounds!!!!!!!!! :scared1: did you go overdue?

Well see I have this trend of birth weights of my kids... 6.8 dd#1 7.8 dd#2 8.8 DS.. anyone see the pattern??? I did order already.. I got 1 size 1 and 2 size 2's... I wonder if I can send them back to amazon if I need to exchange them? anyone know? I'll go look it up now :)
