How much time should I plan from arrival at TTC in our rental car to MK turnstiles?

Well it depends on where your staying at and if you plan to use the Express Monorail or boat when going to the Magic Kingdom.

We are staying offsite so I'm just wondering how long it will take once we drive to the TTC to get to MK. I imagine sometimes we'll take the monorail and other times the boat. Just looking for approximate times. Thanks!

Well this is just a guess but coming from an offsite hotel and driving all the way to the TTC, then taking the tram after parking your car and waiting for the Monorail or Boat, I would say it will take at least 20 minutes or more.

Mapquest says my offsite drive to the TTC will take 13 minutes, but once I'm at TTC how long to MK turnstiles?

I'd guess 15 or 20 minutes to security at MK. How long that will take depends on the crowd.

Does it include coming from Interstate 4, 192, 535 or even International Drive? Since your staying offsite chances are you will be taking one of those roads to get into WDW, so just wondering. Plus what you also have to factor in are the traffic conditions which Mapquest does not know about.

Once you park I would figure at least 15-20 minutes to get to MK from the TTC.

The original question doesnt matter where they are staying. The person could be driving from Utah and it wouldnt matter for how long from TTC to MK... :goodvibes

I would imagine that from the time you park your car, to the turnstiles at MK would be about 30 mins....you have to factor in wait times for either the ferry or monorail. If you got lucky, it could only be 15 mins. You need to also remember that you have to get from your car to the ferry/monorail area at TTC..that can take a bit of time as well.

Thanks everyone! We're planning to leave our rental house at 8pm sharp so if mapquest is correct with the less than 15 minute drive time to TTC and from TTC to MK is less than 30 minutes we should be at the turnstiles in plenty of time for rope drop!

If you really want to get the biggest benefit from being there at rope drop, plan on standing there 30 to 45 minutes prior to park opening.

Walking down an empty Mainstreet first thing in the morning is a cool experience.

They will then hold you at secondary ropes at various spots branching off from the center hub.

15-20 minutes sounds about right. The boat is faster than the monorail because the monorail makes three stops before it gets to MK. You may or may not have to wait for a boat or monorail, so it could be longer than 20 minutes but probably not much.

The express monorail services only the TTC and Magic Kingdom. The trip to MK is nonstop. The resort line has stops at the Poly and GF.

The travel time is similar. The biggest variable is lines at the monorail vs ferry. If you are parking during the busiest part of the morning, it may take half an hour from the time you pass through the toll booths until you get to the MK gates. I have done this in 15 minutes in the evening with no crowds.

Oops, my bad! I'll edit the post. Could the reason UG recommends taking the boat be that the boat carries more people?

Ah, but it does. If you're staying on property and trying to get to the MK for EMH I would take the bus from your resort rather than take a car to the TTC and then the boat or monorail over. Last time we did EMH was for my birthday last March and we had to wait forever for a spot on the only monorail that was running, the resort monorail. The boat didn't start early, either. So, all of the people trying to use the monorail to get to the MK for EMH made a REALLY long line. It took us more like 45 minutes from the TTC to the MK and I vowed never to drive the car there again for EMH.

Cheryterese, We are also staying offsite, but I can't find the address for the TTC (to pop into MapQuest) ANYWHERE. Would you mind sharing it with me?

Thanks!

OP, if you are planning on being there for rope drop, you need to allow more time for traffic. Both traffic just getting to your parking space and the horde of other people trying to make it to rope drop. Expect to add 15/20 min to your travel time from your driveway to a parking space, add time for a tram ride(5min) and expect to wait for a monorail or 2, plus the line to clear security. I would leave no later than 7:30, maybe earlier.

No problem! I don't think I found the exact address either, but if you type in Magic Kingdom, Kissimmee, FL for your destination on Mapquest it will then give you several options. Choose #5 (Magic Kingdom at 3111 World Dr) to get directins to. The time it gave me was accurate to the TTC even though that may not be the exact address. If you just type in the 3111 World Dr address it won't come up. For some reason you have to choose the #5 option. Also, if you haven't been to Disney before, don't worry about this not being the exact address because once you drive into the Disney World property there are signs everywhere telling you where to go. Hope this helps! If not, let me know and I'll see what else I can do to help you.

For the record, we've been and are back from our Jan/Feb trip now (which was fantastic - wish we were there now!) and here is an approx breakdown of how long it took us from rental house to Magic Kingdom Turnstiles:
8am - left rental house (south of Irlo bronson)
8:15am - arrived at TTC, parked, unloaded 2strollers, 3 little kids and stuff
8:25am - walked to monorail entrance (we made the mistake of taking the tram once - too hard with the kids and strollers, and if you arrive early you park close enough to walk faster anyway)
8:30am- arrived at monorail
8:40am - arrived at MK in time for opening ceremonies which started about 8:50 each day we were there. We did this 3 days of our trip. One day we left right at 8am and there was hardly any traffic. Two other days we left around 8:15. We still made it for opening ceremonies on one of the days but on the other we just missed it. Traffic gets noticeably heavier the more you wait to leave after 8am. It pretty much took us 45 minutes to get to MK and 20 - 30 to get to the other parks without the added step of the TTC.
