How long to make a reservation after closing?

I was just informed by TTS that my BWV purchase closed this morning! They said that it will take 10-15 business days for me to receive member information from Disney. Since I'm eager to make a reservation for a trip I have planned for November, does anyone know if there's a way to do so without having to wait that long? Thanks.

Once closing has completed, you should be in the DVC computer within a week. You can call MS and they can look you up using your SS# and give you your membership number at that time if your informtaion hasn't yet reached you. Once you're in the computer, you can make reservations immediately.

WELCOME HOME! :)

If I remember correctly, we were in the system about 5 days after closing. However, we were "in the system" one day, but not able to make reservations until the next. By the way, congratulations.

I think it took us 7 business days to get "in the system," but as noted above we were not able to make reservations until the following day. I believe there are two different departments that manage that process: one sets up the account and the other puts the points in.

Be sure to double-check your points when they get in the account. In our case, we were surprised to find a bunch of current year points already banked, contrary to everything we'd seen. No problem for us, because that's what we were going to do anyway, but just be sure your points are as they should be. Disney occasionally makes mistakes.

Once we closed, our guide placed a hold on a reservation for us until we were in the system. Once we were officially able to make a reservation, our guide called us and we contacted MS to confirm the held reservation.

I bought a DVC membership on the Xmas cruise and was told it would take up to 8 weeks for the paperwork to be complete. As it turns out, it was done mind-January and was then told that as soon as I got my paperwork, they would have held a reservation until everything was official.

But you bought directly from Disney, right? OP bought a resale.

Best wishes -

You are absolutely right. I didn't pay attention to that part of the question. This is further proof that I have lost my mind and should not be allowed near the computer. I used to be smart, but that was before I had children and was so long ago no one remembers it. Sorry for any confusion I caused.

Waaaay too tough on yourself! You are still smart - all of us DIS'rs are!

Best wishes -

Thanks everyone.

For anyone who looks up this thread in the future with the same question, here's my final result:

I closed last Monday. I was in the DVC system yesterday (exactly one week later). I had my points today and made my first reservation.

DVC was unable to make any reservation or place anything on hold for me earlier. One reason I was given was that I was looking for a reservation at the GF rather than one of the 7 DVC properties, although I don't know whether the fact that I bought a resale would have also prevented it.

:thumbsup2 Great question as I am closing this week on my resale and was wondering exactlyl the same thing. :)
