How long to get points back?

Long story short last week I had a bad stay at VGF and was told I would get one nights points back, I have yet to receive them...how long does it usually take? It's been 7 full days since I accepted this compensation.

Never been in this situation but I would follow up with an email at this point.

It took us approximately two weeks (at least). They did tell us it would take a couple of weeks to manage our expectations. It's not an instantaneous thing where someone just moves the points back (unfortunately). They have to go through a few administrative hoops to return the points and fill out forms etc. so there's a digital trail as to why. I would say if they are not back in two weeks, to then call Member Services as a follow-up just to ensure it's still in the system.

This past May we left a day early due to being dissatisfied with our resort room. We did not ask for or expect points to be refunded. I informed Guest services at the hotel that we were checking out early and the room would be available. Manager offered to refund points, points showed up in holding about five days later. We have also had another situation, left due to family medical emergency, resort made a note on our reservation and when we called DVC Member services (about 2 weeks later) they were kind enough to put points back into our account.
I want to be clear, in both situations we never expected points to be refunded.

I had a problem at BLT several years ago, booked a Lake View room and ended up in a standard view. I had the points returned by the time the trip was over.

Honestly if you are willing to share I would like to hear about your bad stay.
In summary our room was in poor repair, broken mattress, (abnormally) beat up furniture and appliances etc..

The room was also not well cleaned with old splatter on mirror, kitchen back splash and worst of all the bathroom had a lingering urine smell (tile seemed stained, maybe in groute, shower drain smelled and was dirty)

Front desk and member services were made aware at check in but nothing happened at all until the next day and about the 4th person I spoke to, eventually we got a new mattress and the bathroom bleached (after 2 house keeping visits) but it was still not great and we were glad it was a short visit (they claimed no ability to move us to another room)

Thanks everyone, I'll be patient and maybe just send a follow up email for now.

Just wondering, how did you notify the front desk? For benefit of people reading this thread who are not aware, calling the front desk gets a person at a call center “somewhere,” not the actual front desk at the resort. So when there’s a problem, it’s important to call Housekeeping or Maintenance or even Bell Services, because they’re onsite, or to go in person to the front desk to be certain you’re speaking to someone who can actually respond to the issue at hand.

I think you were incredibly patient! At a minimum, the Housekeeping Supervisor should have inspected your room as soon as you made the complaint!

I went to the cms at the vgf building lobby, I then went to the main lobby front desk, I also simply called member services to ask for the resort manager to call me back.

Wow, that’s terrible!

Did the resort manager ever call you back? I had a similar bad experience at CCV a couple months ago, but could never get the resort manager to respond by phone or email
