okay, now that i made it through the first hurdle, i'm wondering about the next... (i know i'll figure out some of this info if i wait and see, but it's so hard to be patient on this. :p i want be ready to get the closing done asap!)

those of you who bought resales, can you please help answer my questions?
  1. after you heard that Disney didn't buyback your resale, how long did it take to get the closing package from the title/closing company?
  2. do buyers need to have any documents notarized?
  3. what form of payment is acceptable to pay the remaining balance? personal check? money order? official bank check? cashier's check? credit card? (wishful thinking on that last one)
  4. what's the deal with this expedited service i heard about? does it really make things faster?
  5. after you sent your payment/documents back, how long did it take to finally close? did you actually close on your scheduled closing date?

We just made our first reservations for this June on a resale we made on offer on back on Jan 10th.

It took about 2-3 weeks to hear that Disney did not buy the resale.

It took another 2 weeks or so to close (we paid for the fast track).

It took about 1 week for our membership number to be assigned.

It took me 1/2 hour to retrive our membership number and make our first reservations. Our contract had banked points, so we will be staying for 4 night at the Boardwalk, 2 weekend days )out of pocket ) at the poly, and then 5 nights at Old Key West.

We're still waiting to close on our resale. Here are my answers to your questions:

1. We found out our resale went through on Feb. 25; our closing documents were e-mailed to us on March 6.

2. We had to have our Purchaser's Affidavit notarized.

3. We bank wired the money to our closing company.

4. Don't know about this "expedited service" you're referring to.

5. We faxed our documents back on March 11. Our seller lives in Venezuela so he was given until March 17 to FedEx his documents back since he has to go the U.S. Embassy to get his documents notarized. I'm waiting to hear back if he has already done so. According to the original contract we signed, closing must take place by March 27 so we still have some time.

If you bought through Jaki Apetz, the procedures should pretty much be the same.

Edited to add: I just talked to Jaki and the seller FedEx'd his documents today, so they should get to the closing company by Monday at the latest.

Hi Disneyberry,
I'll try to answer here too -

1.We opted to have them email the closing papers and had them the day after we found out Disney let the contract through.
2.We did not have to have anything notarized but I believe the seller did.
3.Only a cashier's check was acceptable in our case.
4.We were told that the expedited service wasn't really necessary. That proved to be true in that the closing service was very fast and efficient on its own.
5.We closed long before our documented closing date. But our contract sat on somebody's desk (at MS) for over a week. A few phonecalls and a polite conversation with management finally got us into the system about 13 days after we closed.
May it be quick and painless for you!:D
