How long to add on points at sold out resort?

Wow, another add-on?

Gee, DVC Mike, I'm surprised you noticed! Credit the new lights on Cinderella's castle, we're having a second '08 family vacation, and I'm hoping to get a AKV GV!

Also, we were on a trip to another favorite vacation destination, Pigeon Forge and the Smokies, when DH mused if we could spend the month of January in DVC accomodations once he retires which is just a few years off. I would take winter quarter off teaching, I don't like traveling to work in snow. Well, these points will make that a reality!

You are brilliant! Let's see...I have 15 years to go till retirement, mortgage will be done by the, kids should be finished college...I think that's my new goal. Why didn't I think of that before?

Decided this morning, on the spur of the moment, to call my guide at see if there were 30 points available at VWL in my March Use Year. She said she'd get back to me later today. She called me back and said they were!

Just checked DVCMember.com, and the points are already in my account!

I have done 3 add-ons at BCV this past year, and I only had to waitlist for one of them. I had to wait a total of 3.5 weeks.

I have also done 6 add-ons at VWL and 4 add-ons at BWV, and I didn't have to wait for any of them.

I think my March UY is lucky, at least in terms of add-ons.

Seems people are having some luck with smaller amounts. Have you indicated you'll take the points in smaller contracts? 25/25/25, 30/45--might be worth a try.

We had the same problem. We were waitlisted for 75-100 points (october UY) for about 4 months and decided to go resale. We actually got a 100 pt contract with an April UY. It seems like BCV can be some of the hardest points to come by through Disney directly.

BCV is just popular. I've been waiting since March 2007 for a 75 pt add on at BCV. I have a feeling it's going to go over the 1 year mark. (Sigh) My UY is June.

Guess we should start a thread for the longest wait.
Mine was 11 months, 12 days in 05. Don't dishearten, it'll all be memory soon.
Its also a good time of the year for available pts....dues due/people selling..etc.

If I were to give advice for the BCV's...it would be 3 things:
1. Get on a resellers list too. Take what comes 1st
2. Be willing to take smaller contracts to equal the total wanted. (BE SURE your guide knows this).
3. Call your guide, at least monthly, to get a progress update.

Quick question here as I continue to do my research...

I notice most postings on this thread are for BCV and BWV. Not too many for WLV and I didn't see any for OKW.

We're considering an initial DVC purchase in the resale market since we only want to begin with 70-75 points (which would get us a studio at WL for 5 days during the summer).

IF we catch that common disease (addonitis) and want to add some WL points at a later date, is it easier to get a smaller contract (like 25-50 points) on WLV than it is from BC or BW?
