How many nights do you normally stay when you go to Disney? Aside from the obvious reasons like "I need to get back to work/school", why do you choose that particular number of nights?

We stayed for 8 nights when we went and I was nowhere near ready to leave. I felt like there was so much left to see and do! I know you could probably stay for a month and still not do it all, but I just wondered what amount leaves you feeling satisfied? How long is your ideal stay? ::MickeyMo

Usually, we try to stay for 8 days and 7 nights. There are a couple of reasons for that. 1) That is how long we have the condo for. 2) If I can go to the parks for four or five days, play one round of golf, and have a day to relax, I am doing really good. 3) By then, usually the money has run all out.

Our family stays for 10 days and I'm still not ready to leave. It's the money (or lack thereof).

Coming from the UK, it's usually at least 14 nights (this probably applies to the majority of Brits). The reason? It takes such a long time to get to WDW that there is no way I'd be leaving in less than 2wks :rotfl
[This year I'll be there for 16 nights]

My first stay in '99 was for four nights/5 days.....not even close to long enough!! I started going for a week....7 days/eight nights, and that seems to work fine. But, I go about once a year. From Aug '04 to Aug '05 I had about 26 days on my annual pass...from 4 trips. But that was an unusual amount of time. I have found that since I have started going once a year, I don't need to go for quite as long each time. So about a week now, but if I were to go more than that once a year it would be probably for 6 days/7 nights each trip.

We do 9 days and 9 nights. We come in on Friday night and stay through the following Sunday. We usually take Wednesday off (in summer the parks seem to be extra crowded then) to relax around the pool and/or go to Downtown Disney.

7 nights/8 days seems to be about right for us. The kids are older now, and so we can pretty much skip Fantasyland, Mickey's toontown and other kid-oriented areas around the parks. We always try anything new they've added, and ride old favorites such as Splash Mountain many times. Of course, crowd levels have a huge effect on how much time you need to accomplish everything. By the 8th day, we're exhausted, satisfied, and ready to go home.

11 nights--All 3 times

1st night, rest after our 29 hour drive!!
2 days MK
1 1/2 AK
1/2 Epcot
1 day MGM
1 day US
1 day IOA
1 day BG
1 day Water Park
1 day rest--(the Saturday)
Next day home

Works out perfect everytime

Usually we go for 7 days because we go during the school year, but our last visit was during July and we went for 10 days. It was perfect! We had enough time to visit all the parks/water parks/DTD without feeling rushed. We also found time to enjoy our resort. It was almost relaxing!! But I must add that the absolute perfect time would be 10 days NOT in summer. For me the heat was OK but too many people! :crowded:

We've gone for as long as 12 days, but usually stay for approximately 6-8 now because of school schedules and such.

Our first trip to disney, nearly 3 years ago, we stayed 7 days, and I think 6 nights.

This trip we are arriving on a thursday and returning home the following wednesday. It was a matter of minimizing days out of school for the kids and wanting to get back home in time for thanksgiving.

I am contemplating a trip this summer, just me and the kids and friend and her kids may join us. It will be short - 4 or 5 days including travel time. The reasons are a few - a) possibily as much time as I can take alone with 3 kids; b) we are going to stay at the ASMo for financial reasons, but also because I think the kids will love it - and this is possibly as long as i am willing to stay at a value; c) I am fitting in between two different camp experiences that the kids want to do.

When I go solo, I go for 7 days/7 nights.

With the family, I go for 10 nights.

We stay a minimum of 10 nights (11 days). It takes 4-5 days to really get to the state of relaxing. This gives us about a week of real relaxing. We try to do this twice in a calendar year.

Hi there. Typically we consider 7 nights our "long" trip. And, we sometimes go for shorter long weekend trips and stay 3-4 nights. However, this summer we actually did 8 nights which was very nice. Never enough though. However, I would rather go 2 or 3 times a year vs going once for an extended period of time. I think I like 8 nights for our "long" trip and 4 nights for our shorter trips. In 2004, we had a great Disney year. We stayed 7 nights in February, 7 nights in July and 4 nights in November. That was very nice.

This year so far we've been only once, like I said above for 8 nights. We took a non-Disney (sort of) vacation in May...went to Southern CA. We did go to DL/CA Adventure 2 days so I guess I can count that as a Disney fix.

I have to echo Houston Disney Fan in that our kids are older now, both in high school, and it makes a difference in how much more can be seen. We don't spend time in Toontown, or waiting in lines for character greetings or autographs anymore. We've been three times before so know what we want to do and where it is. We also go during the off-season (this year first week of January), so less crowds to deal with. That said, we're going for seven nights, as usual. Would love to stay longer, who wouldn't, but even if we could it would be too expensive!

2003 - 7 nights/ 8 days
2004 - 11 nights/12 days
2005 - 16 nights/17 days
2006 - 4 nights/5 days (January for the marathon)
15 nights/16 days (July)

We like the longer trips because we're not hurried and have time to enjoy other things besides the parks. This summer the kids did Pirate Cruise, Grand Adventures in Cooking and the Wonderland Tea Party. One day we just relaxed at the pools, one day we went to Sea World and DH was able to play golf.

I agree with other posters about vacations not really getting relaxing until 4 days in or so, but when we go to WDW, it's not about relaxing. Don't want to, we don't even try. In fact, we usually need at least a day or so vacation back home from our vacation.

So we do shorter stays. If you know you're going back, you don't feel as much of a compulsion to do everything. So we've done everything from two to seven nights. More than seven is too much for us.

Since my DH is the type that likes to have days to sleep in and not do much we are attempting to have our next trip be longer, last trip was 6days/nights. Our next trip will be 9 days.... 1 travel day, 4 park days and 4 non park days. This way we have time to do what he wants as well as what I want.

We usually go for five nights - three nights at WDW and two nights at Universal. I would rather go for fewer nights and stay deluxe. Since we've been many times, we just hit our favorites when we go.

It works for us.

We are arriving on 12/31 an leaving 1/16 so 16 nights.
I would rather maybe go shorter and more often, but when you factor in expense getting there for a family of four, we would just rather stay longer.
We love to relax and take our time. My hubby enjoys golfing, so he does that. Me and the kids like to swim... Last trip in 1/03 in we stayed for 3 weeks, that was a little too long for us.
We will go back in December 2006, but we are just planning on staying a week.
