How long is the stomach bug contagious?

My mom started with the stomach bug Sunday night (started with a sore throat, then a lot of vomiting, etc) and we have been avoiding each other like the plague so that I don't catch it from her. So far, so good.
She's now all better and its Friday, is it "safe" now to be around her? I would think its ok by now.

I searched the net to find out how long a stomach bug is contagious and I got no clear answer whatsoever. So how long is it contagious, IYO?

PS- I was around her during the day Sunday, and on Sunday night/Monday I came down with a small cold and cough- perhaps I am already immune?

If her symptoms have been gone for several days, I would risk it! I hate a stomach bug, because they take over a house, but that sounds long enough. (I am not a doctor, though, merely a 1st grade teacher!)

No kidding...I bet we see more during the school year than any MD!

OT- I love the picture of your cat! I have one that looks similar except she is "chunky" (to put it kindly!)

As long as she is vigilant about cleaning up after herself, surfaces she's possibly contaminated, and washing her hands, and you wash your hands thoroughly, you won't catch it.
