Just out of curiosity, how long is an average wait for a major attraction. I know there are a lot of factors that go into this but I'm looking for a ballpark figure. We're going the first week of October if that helps. We haven't been to Disney in about 15 years and it was obviously very different then. A long wait to me is a couple hours. We go to Cedar Point in Ohio every summer and it's nothing to wait hours to get on a roller coaster. Just wondering if anyone can help me out.

I dont think you would have to wait hours in October. We went on Spring Break last year which is a busy time and never waited more than 30 minutes. I think on holidays and in the summer waits may be in the hours but probably not in October.

If you are use to waiting 2 hours for a rollarcoaster back home then you have nothing to worry about. There are numerous factors involved to the wait times like season, day of week, early entrance, weather, late night magic, etc. October in the past is not as busy as other times of the year, but recently the past experiences have seen shifts as people attempt to avoid certain seasons (weather) and other read information off sites like this one in an effort to avoid crowds.

If you are able to be one of the first in on an early morning day you can ride a series of rides in minutes. Typical line would be around 30-45 minutes when it starts to get busy. Busy would be 60 to 130 minutes. There is usually a park everyday where the lines grow to a point where it is best to have a Park Hopper ticket providing you the flexibility to depart to another park with smaller crowds.

This year Spring break had waits up to a 130 minutes for rides like Soaring, etc.

Can you say Fastpass? If the wait is over 30 min I get a Fastpass, so even if I have to wait an hour I can ride something else while I wait.

Iwas there first 10 days in October last year and apart from the biggies-Soarin', Test track-and add expedition Everest to that now, you are looking at 20-30 mins tops. The little kiddie rides had the longer lines, because by then the little horrors-er angels-were back in school so it was mostly families with younger angels...

Please please please join Tour Guide Mike. I learned how to not wait. We were there President's Day week which I found out after we booked is supposed to be a very busy time to go. I'm sure there were lines, but we didn't wait in any. It really is the best vacation $$ I spent :sunny:

The first week October is one of the lightest times of year, except maybe for the first Friday, Don't sweat it. Get there by rope drop and you will have yur run of the place. Announced waits of 15-30 minutes, but actual waits far less. By all means, read up on some simple strategies for Fastpass, Fast-loading rides vs. slow loading (do these first), Hitting all the Showtimes back-to-bck at Animal Kingdom, etc Some of the headliners you may want to do twice, so you can hit it once early and get a Fastpass for later.

Where do you find out about Tour Guide Mike? :confused3 We are going in June and I know the lines will probably be terrible. I could use some help princess:

He's actually now a Dis sponsor. Go to the top of this page and click on his link, Dis-er's get a discount. I don't think it can be more than $20 or so. Priceless info for the $$. I can't say enough about how much more prepared I was for our Feb trip :cheer2: .
I think it could make a real difference for a busy June trip. Careful though, you think you are addicted to planning now, after TGM you will be bringing a binder full of info with you, but it will be your best trip ever, and planning is half the fun :sunny:

Very few rides in October have a chance of the wait going over 60 minutes, the main one is Soarin which I suggest everyone get a fast pass for it first thing in the morning. In october the Food and Wine festival in Epcot could also drive up crowds.

I've been to Cedar Point the last couple of years in early june and the most I waited for a coaster was about 1 hr 15 minutes for Millenium Force and also about the same time for Dragster, everything else was 10-30 minutes. I wouldn't go there mid summer as I would expect the kind of lines you're talking about of 2 hours plus.
