How long have you been a member of DIS?

October 2010.....right before a trip with my mom and kids to Disneyland. I bought Halloween party tickets for our first evening despite my mom's objections and it was her favorite part of the trip. I think it's about for her and i to take another trip. Maybe it should be WDW this time.

Going on 12 years. I had just started digital scrapbooking and was looking for Disney related material. Stumbled onto the creative forums and then got sucked into the photography forum. It was actually quite sometime before I became a regular on the CB and the Budget Forums. Most of us moved on from the Scrapbooking forum onto larger platforms (that also have gone by the wayside) but remain friends. The photography forum is a mere shadow of what it used to be but I learned some skills there I wouldn’t have learned anywhere else.

August, 1999 was not one of the frequent crashes of those days. It was when the boards went from the threaded style forum display to the flat, with vBulletin software if I recall. It required re-registering for everyone then. You will see quite a number of August, 1999 start dates. I had to do it again the following April. There were frequent crashes in those days though.

I faintly remember that now that you mention it. And, it makes sense that I was a member before that date because, I began planning a "once in a lifetime" trip with my sister and her family in February of 1999 and found the DIS boards early in the planning. One of the first things I learned about was the Magic Kingdom Club. I joined that, got a nice soft sided briefcase and a major discount on a Contemporary garden room. I have been hooked on these boards ever sense.

Since June 2006, when I was planning what I thought would be our whole family's trip to Disney in December 2006.

Wound up being just me and the kids, as my National Guard husband was deployed to Afghanistan in November 2006 -- because so much was prepaid, he told us to just go without him and that we'd plan a full trip when he came back.

Took a bit, but we did the family trip in December 2009.

There were a lot of crashes in the early days! I remember having dial up and waiting *forever* for long threads to load.
