How long for dinner at Tony's

We have a reservation at Tony's for dinner at 6:40. But, the only time I could get a FP for 7DMT was 7:40-8:40. I am wondering how long we should plan for dinner?

When we were there Thanksgiving Week we had 4 something or 5 dinner ADRs including Tony's and places took an hour if not more. We were seated pretty quickly. Not sure how long it would be later in the evening.

Think about changing your ADR. The food there was horrible. Dessert was the only thing edible.

With that ADR and that FP, you will have no problem, even if you are seated late. There is no way that you wouldn't be finished eating and on the ride before 8:40. Dinner there should never take more than an hour. But I agree with disnut about the food quality. We have only eaten there when we couldn't get anything else.

I've been reading reviews and they are very mixed. But, I love lady and the tramp and we are only doing one meal so that's what we chose. Hope it's decent. We are on the Disney Fantasy the next day so not like we won't have plenty of great food after

I wouldn't change your reservation. Tony's is trashed on these boards frequently. However, people are VERY picky about Italian food. It's always "I'm 87.2 % Italian and it tastes like chef boyarde" etc. if you think Olive Garden is edible then you'll be fine. It doesn't taste like chef boyarde. If you are super picky about Italian then you'll think it's terrible. The sauce is very chunky/thin/sweet, just like Olive Garden. We thought it was fine, not great, but perfectly edible and fine. And it made me laugh when people compare it to chef boyarde frequently because it's nothing like it. Magic kingdom choices are very limited and we don't think anything else there is any better. However we are trying Liberty Tree for the first time this trip. And obviously we haven't done Skipper Canteen. But the Plaza, Crystal Palace, Be Our Guest, for us were not any better.

NOTE1: The staff friendliness and the eatery atmosphere are good, but misleading, as the
food is not something to write home about. Meats are average for the Italian entrées, but
akin to CHEF BOY AR DEE - using CHEF BOY AR DEE could be considered an insult to the
famous chef from Cleveland, Ohio. The sauce may be tomato, but it is definitely not a true
marinara. The appetizers are average. In a pinch, Tony's might do, but there are far better
choices. On the plus side, the desserts are simple, but pretty good. Hard to justify going
the first time, let alone going back. Now, we have not even mentioned the slow service.

NOTE2: If available, one can ask for a outdoor patio table. However, it is not a good place
to view parades, even though one might think so.

Totally agree. Food was disgusting when I ate at Tony's. My son agrees.

I totally disagree. I actually dont mind Olive Garden at all....and I hated Tony's. I think the chef boyardee comparison is spot on.

sorry, I just don't get the comparison. Chef Boyardee is like a smooth, gross, thick tomato paste mixed with water that is all one texture. No flavor at all. It's like eating spaghetti O's. Tony's pasta is very similar to Olive Garden marinara sauce. It's very chunky and sweet and has a little spice to it. It has flavor to it. It's not genuine Italian, but it's not even remotely the same as a chef Boyardee. Not even the same texture or flavor whatsoever. I'm not saying it's great but you can't compare it to something it doesn't taste like just because you don't like either. And most people don't get marinara sauce at Olive Garden so they aren't familiar with theirs. But it tastes exactly like it and millions of people like Olive Garden Marinara.

We enjoyed Tony's the last time we went. Would I prefer Il Mulino or Via Napoli? Sure, but neither of those places is in the Magic Kingdom. If you're in the MK and want to stay in the park for a sit-down meal, then you have a specific number of options and you have to set your expectations accordingly. Give it a try -- if you don't like it, then at least you know for yourself, but for the love of all things holy, do not be scared off by some of these folks -- there are very few restaurants at WDW that are universally loved by all. We tried it after taking a few years off, and I was pretty nervous given how people seem to blast it on these boards, but we thoroughly enjoyed it, from appetizers to desserts. Again, it's not fine dining, but if you go into any restaurant in the Magic Kingdom expecting fine dining, you're in for a let-down. We had things from flatbread to chicken parm to eggplant, and each was good. If you go in with reasonable expectations, you should come out smiling. I can enjoy a cold can of Beanee Weenee at a campground, a true fine dining experience in a five-star restaurant, and virtually anything in between, as long as expectations are set going in. If you go into every "table service" dining experience at WDW expecting the absolute best of everything, you'll never be happy (as seems to be the fate of several people I have seen on these boards...not necessarily this particular thread).

The Olive Garden comparison always amuses me. There are millions of people who love Olive Garden. And to compare it to Chef Boyardee is just ludicrous. Not everybody has an Italian grandma who labors over a pot of sauce all day.

We ate at Tony's December 13th. We were in and out quite quickly. I wouldn't expect you to be there more than an hour after being seated unless you linger over desserts or after dinner coffee. Still plenty of time to make it to your fast pass time.

Stay far far away from this place - it's not just the worst food at WDW - it's the worst restaurant food I have ever been subjected to. I actually didn't even eat my meal, and neither did my wife, who's not picky, nor our DD8, who turned down spaghetti for the only time in her life. You have been warned!

We love Tony's. It's not the greatest thing you'll ever eat but it's by far not the worst.

So here is the thing - you don't have to change your ADR. CM's have told me as long as your bring your receipt and show it to the CM at the FP+ entrance, they will scan your band, see the time and see that you were at Tony's and honor your FP+. Keep in mind this only works for table service meals, not QS ones.

It's reheated food(at least it tastes that way). You should be fine. I've never been there longer than an hour and twenty - and I've mostly been there with my two year old.

We love Tony's. Although the caesar salad i had last time was too salty. but I still love it there. get the tiramisu, it's amazing! For us we are a party of 4 and it takes about an hour. I wouldn't change anything. You have until 8:40 to make it to the FP.

You'll have time. I found the wait there was one of our longest (although still not that long, about 10 - 15 minutes) and it's a meal that you can comfortably get through in about an hour.

If you do find that the service is taking a bit longer than usual and you are starting to approach the FP window, just let your server know you have the time constraint. A good server will pace themselves based on their customers needs, especially since you are leaving a suitable amount of time for the meal in the first place.

If you're really nervous about it, you could always try to move your ADR up by a few minutes to build some more buffer, but I really don't think you'll need it.

As for the food at Tony's, I know the place gets a bad wrap, but I enjoyed it. Certainly not a place I would rave about, but it's not horrible either, like I tend to read on here a lot. I had pizza and salad and enjoyed it and my son liked the spaghetti and meatballs.

Tony was the worse decision we've made on our past trip. Food is average and the service was terrible. we had a 5h40 ADR and managed to miss the parade.
