Hello everyone. i am a rookie to disboards. So be patient with me!
I just put a bid in for a dvc property through a dvc resale and it was accepted!!:yay:
I am just so happy and think it is a great investment. Well anyway..my questions, i filled out the paperwork and mailed my deposit. What is the normal time period for closing. i know it says anywhere from 5 to 7 weeks but anyone know on witch end of the scale is the average? And has anyone booked anything before their actual closing date? :woohoo:

I believe it can take up to 3 months from placing an offer, going through ROFR with Disney and then closing. Buying resale, you cannot make ressies before you close. If you buy direct from DVC, they are able to book you right away though.

Congratulations and good luck as you proceed through ROFR.

Here is my timeline: Made offer on 4/4/09
Offer accepted 4/6/09
Contract signed 4/8/09
Submitted for ROFR 4/10/09
Passed ROFR 5/5/09
Waiting for closing documents to be sent to me from title company and then I will send final amount required to close.

It depends on several factors so each deal is a little different. How soon you send in your docs, how soon the seller sends in theirs, how long Disney takes, (three different steps), how long your broker takes, how long escrow takes. Any one or more can add delays to the process.

Ok...thank you everyone for the useful information. Hopefully i'll pass through the ROFR phase:scared1: I wonder how often Diney uses the ROFR, but wish me luck:love:
