How long should we plan for breakfast to take? Have ADR's at 8:35 for Dec 1, but now am wondering if that will be enough time? We can pre-order, correct? And what is the chance they will move the opening that day up to 8? I need to keep reminding myself to stop stressing, this is vacation, right? :)

Well, a lot of "how long" depends on your party. If you have small children, it'll take longer than say, my family with me, wife, and 10 years old son. For us, it took about 30 minutes. We're no-nonsense though, and didn't feel any need to wander around taking pictures and such.

Yes you can preorder it can save a lot of time and you can do up until 30 min prior I think so it's not like you have to decide what you want days in advance. We have eaten there for both breakfast and lunch a few times and preordering saved us quite a bit of time (line to use ordering kiosks always seems to be so long). I've joked that it seems like we have a fast pass since we bypass the majority of the line :)
We had an ADR at 8:15 one day and they let everyone in at 8 when the restaurant opened-we were one of the first groups sitting down as a result and had our food at our table even before our ADR time. Another day we were running late getting to MK for our breakfast when the resort monorail wasn't running so we arrived right at 8:20 for our reservation. We still had enough time to eat and make it to the "extra" SDMT ride before the rope drop crowd arrived.

. . . Have ADR's at 8:35 for Dec 1 . . . what is the chance they will move the opening that day up to 8 . . .

1) It is all based upon anticipated attendance.
2) We should know 10-days in advance, because the manpower schedules are posted 2-weeks early.
3) And, opening a whole hour early is a major manpower schedule issue.
4) But, an opening 15-20 minutes ahead of schedule is really possible, and done at the last moment (without advance announcement).
. . . just because the Rope Drop is done, it does not mean the rides will open earlier, so, manpower is not a problem
. . . all the ride manpower does not need to be present, just "crowd control" folks
. . . guests would just wait in line a tad longer, until all the ride CM's and operators show up
5) In your case, this could be when you have just sat down to eat, and, no way to predict if there would such an early Rope Drop.
.
NOTE:
. . . Parks frequently open 15-20 minutes early.
. . . This is the decision of The Duty Manager.
. . . If he/she thinks the park is ready, he/she can order the turnstiles to open for general admittance.
. . . We have all seen this done.
. . . For December 1st, I would not say this is out of the realm of possibility.
. . . In my experience, the thing that might hold up and earlier opening is if there are still vehicles (including trucks) roaming the parks with supplies.
. . . Nothing destroys the Magic like a delivery truck in the walkway.

Thanks everyone for your knowledge! I am going to continue to try to get a time a little earlier, but if not plan on getting there as early as possible and pre-ordering of course. Thanks again!
