How long does it take you to get to WDW?

It's a 2 hour flight for us. We have never considered driving because I think DD would give us problems

Flight time from Hawaii appx 12 hours but kids said its worth it to go to WDW.

This past holiday we went to Disneyland since that is only a 5 hour flight away but after about 1/2 a day they said "Is that it?!"

So next time its back to the 12 hour flight.

Drive time is relative to how much we need to stop along the way. We try to fly when the airfare is cheap but haven't found many of those lately. Also, we like the flexibility having a car. It's tough to get on ME at 4:00am to make the early morning cheap flights.

We usually leave Friday after school and drive for about 5 hours to get a head start. We hope to drive about 12 hours the next day and get into Georgia then have a much easier day on Sunday to arrive at Disney. In total about 24 hours. The best thing about driving is the change of seasons in the spring. We leave NH with snow on the ground in April and start watching on Saturday for the first signs of green and/or flowers.

From RI and took my first trip to WDW for my BDay when I was 21-22 yrs old in 2000. DBF and I left late evening drove down there straight minus stops along the way for gas, food & bathrooms. Also rested for a couple hours at a rest stop.... and then upon getting back on the road in the early early morning got a speeding ticket in VA!... ::cop: My one and only so far too since I've been driving! So with that don't know if we saved much over flying. It took us around 24 hrs... not exactly sure but very close to around that amount of time. On our way back home we took it much more leisurely. Stopped at the Over the Boarder (? did I get the name right?) place at the Border to NC & SC. And spent a night in Washington DC to see the sights there too. We were going to stop for the night at NYC too but from what we saw it was sooooo much $$$$$ just to park and we were a little travel tired so decided to continue on home.

Since then I have gone at least once every year and since I joined DVC I go ALOT more often than that now. And we always fly now! For me it's much easier as I don't enjoy extended periods of time in a car. And our small local airport is 5 minutes away from me so easy commute and getting checked in there! The flight is about 2 1/2 hours which for me is so short since I am used to the longer flights to CA and Europe from here. I like taking the earliest morning flights out there and the latest evening flights back to home. Gives more time to be at the parks/resort. And the first day we come in we usually rent a car (at the alamo or national in disney) for a couple days to go shopping for groceries & at the Outlet stores for all the disney stuff! Also do the other parks such as Sea World, Universal and Busch Gardens those days too.

From RI to Orlando
Driving = 24 hrs +/-
Flying = 2.5 hrs ---- probably around 4.5 hrs door to door --- from leaving my home to hearing "Welcome Home"!

We have to fly. The main flight is 5 hrs, but we have a short flight to the hub first, so about 6 hrs total.

Another West Coaster here! We always fly! We usually get a flight that is about 6 1/2 hrs. flying time! Alaska does have one now that is a non stop flight from Portland, but unfortunately we couldn't get that flight this trip. We like to fly at night going there. We leave here about 9:00pm and arrive about 7:15am.

We live in L.A. If we fly, 5-8 hours. We have driven before and it took about 5-7 days each way, with stops in New Orleans, San Antonio, and Pensacola Beach.

We live in NE Ohio. ( I refuse to sit in a car for 16 hours) so we fly. It takes us 20-30 min to drive to the airport, an hour by the time we get through security...., 2 hours (give or take a few minutes to fly) and lately we've been lucky with ME so within an hour....WELCOME HOME!! All in all, it's roughly 5 hours from the time we leave to the house until we 2 of the best words in the language...Welcome Home!! (which means it's about 6 hours from the time we leave home that we wind up at MK!)

Let's see...

30 minute drive to off-airport parking at EWR
5 minutes to get loaded onto the airport shuttle
5 minutes drive from parking lot to airport terminal
2 hours at the airport to get through security/wait around
2 hours 50 minutes flying time (according to JetBlue schedule)
30 minutes to either get bags/rental car OR check-in/wait for ME
30 minutes to WDW OR 90 minutes to Vero Beach

So door-to-door, 6.5 hours to WDW or 7.5 hours to Vero Beach. Of course, this doesn't account for weather related delays like we had coming home last summer, which added another 3 hours to the trip, making the trip 10 hours via jet.

Driving would take 20 hours +/- for stops. But, that kind of driving is exhausting, and not cheaper for us (due to lost wages). Besides, I can't guarantee that I would make it through the trip without trying to strangle DH (or vice versa) so we pay the airfare.

My flight in September is 7 hours total travel time with a 50 minute connection in Denver.
In February I have a direct flight (thank you Alaska and Delta airfare sale) with a travel time of just over 5 hours.
Sometimes I can get the Southwest flight direct with a 30 min stop in KC for about 6 hours travel time.
8 Hours minimum with a direct flight (that hardly ever is affordable), the bus schedules coordinate and the ferry is on time or up to 14 hours with connecting flights.

Never have driven and likely won't unless we are retired and want to take our time. According to Google maps, it is 1900 miles and would take 28 hours.

We have always flown. 10m to airport (CMH) and a 2 hour flight then Magic Express (30m) so around 3 hours total in travel time I don't think my sanity would survive a drive with my two boys....

2 hours to wait for the plane
2.5 hours on first leg of flight
1 hour of layover
3.5 hours on last leg
1 hour to get luggage and rental car
1/2 hour to drive to resort

Grand total of 12.5 hours
