How long does it take to see Hollywood Studios?

Is it necessary to arrive at Hollywood Studios at rope drop in order to see the entire park before Fantasmic? Looking at my map the park does not look very big. We will be there in early June. Thanks.

I know a lot of people do HS in half a day, but with the new ride everyone is saying that fast passes are gone by noon! I really enjoy HS so we like to spend a whole day there.

We also like the Sci Fi and Mama Melrose, so if you are doing to TS meals, you really need all day.

It can be done in half though!

I would say no, no need to get there at rope drop...that would make for a very long day. You can certainly see most of the park if you get there around lunch. However, you might not get fast passes for TOT, RnRRC and might need to wait in standby. But I'm one of those that wing-it anyway...:lmao:

We did every single open attraction at DHS in 2006 (when it was MGM) in 2 full days including lunch and dinner ,fantasmic ,osborne lights and the parade. We only skipped Beauty and the beast on stage because it was being refurbed.

good question. We plan on getting there early in the day, as close to RP or shortly after ;) but we really plan on seeing
TSM
TOT
Backlot tour,
Muppets show
Animation studio
and visiting the character locations for pics

Could we get this all done by early afternoon? We have lunch at 2 then plan on heading out after that.

We generally spend a little over half a day in DHS, but if I had never before been to the park and wanted to see it all, I would expect to use the entire day.

We are like Mickeysgirl. It takes 2 full days to see it all! But if you pick and choose the attractions you want to see, then one day will do.

We spend at least one full day there. And we arrive early. And it takes us the full day and we still don't always fit everything in. But we always make a point of seeing the live shows if we can which can interfere with your schedule. Next week is our first trip since Toy Story Mania opened so we are planning to be there at opening and try to do TSM, R&R & ToT done early in the day before the crowds arrive. I've done trips with just a half day at the Studios and we saw the highlights but I wouldn't say we toured the entire park by any means.

We usually spend a little over 1/2 day there. Then go back another day to ride Rockin rollercoaster:banana:
But the only attractions we do there are:
Rockin R
Great Movie Ride
Muppets
Star Tours
Backlot tour
But now, since Toy Story Mania is added, we will probably go a full day and do it and tower of terror---my sons finally say they will ride it:goodvibes

I haven't been in a couple years, but last time I went the backlot tour was so reduced that it hardly seemed worth the wait in line. Ever since they put in LMA, it seems the only thing the backlot tour has going for it is catastrophe canyon (or whatever that part with the special effects is called). Has it changed?

You can see the best HS has to offer IMHO in a half day. For me that would include TSM, RNR, TOT, Muppets, Great Movie Ride, and Star Tours. If you do this half day plan though, you'll be a bit rushed and likely miss some good shows (Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones)

yep, if you want to ride Toy Story Mania with a short wait, you need to be there at rope drop (the standby line when we went this past June was over 2 hours long all afternoon and into the evening). And many many people are reporting that the fast passes are regularly gone by noon.

As everything it depends. For our family HS is at most a half day park. The only really great things there are ToT and RnR (and now probably TSM, we haven't been on yet). The other things depend on whether you like shows. If you don't, after you do these there is very little left.

We are "budgeting" from Rope Drop to early afternoon to do HS.

In our case, I'm not sure we're even going to try to get on TSM -- rushing with a huge crowd toward something I'm not even sure my DD7 will like isn't really my cup of tea.

We're mostly looking forward to the shows. In fact, I don't think we have ANY rides on our list. We want to do:

Beauty & The Beast
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Muppetvision 3-D
Whatever HSM show they're doing at the time

Has anyone successfully navigated that many shows at HS in that timeframe?

We usually spend 2 days in DHS (1 from rope drop to closing and 1 day from maybe noon till closing) and we still don´t get everything done.

It's a full day park for me, but with a mid-afternoon break from the heat. IMO, it's really hard to fit in all the live shows with the "must do" rides. I think if I actually stayed all day, I could get it done.

It depends on how many shows you want to see and what their schedules are.

For us, it was a full day trip the first 2 times we visited. Now there are shows we don't need to see again. So we hit rope drop, see all our favorite attractions, and leave around lunchtime. :)

I Have To Say It Is A Half Day Park, But We Do Love It. It Is A Great Park To Have Adult Drink And People Watch.

We saw all of DHS from 9-7 including lunch at 50s Prime Time and dinner at Hollywood & Vine. This was before TSM. We did not stay for Fantasmic. We were tired & ready to go back to our room.
