After doing the 4 days at WDW and 3 night Wonder cruise in Feb. we decided to join DVC. I put our deposit for BCV on cc last Tues and we are still waiting for our paperwork!!! I keep reading all the posts and I keep thinking 270 points for my dh, dd (11), ds(10) and myself may not be enough. Since the kids are in school we end up traveling either in Feb. or April. We also like to go out west to ski. Has anyone traded for time out west skiing in Feb?

We too just bought into DVC, and are waiting to close the deal. It seems that we are in a similar boat. We bought 230 points and usually travel during school holidays. We actually bought with the intention of skiing every couple of years on our points, I'm afraid we don't have enough either. I think that Keystone is the best option for use with points as far as I can tell...what do you think?

As for the skiing questions, we don't ski but there have been several posts on Keystone in the past as it apparently is the most popular.
The questions about enough points - for many of us once you start taking your DVC vacations you will want to add on. We purchased 230 points in May of 2000. Before we ever took our first trip, which was scheduled for Dec. 2000, we added on 70 more points. We own at the BWV and they were about to sell out so we added on. Last week we returned from our 4th stay as members and are seriously thinking about looking for a small resale at OKW. For us, the vacations are so relaxing and you are staying in premium accomodations and we just more and more of it. This is actually a recurring topic that you will see as you monitor these boards. Most of us love our DVC and can't wait to take those great vacations.
You also had a question on how long it took to get your paperwork. As I recall, we received our tote bag and information about 2 weeks after making the decision. We bought sight unseen and so did everything over the phone.
Congratulations to both of you on your new purchase, you won't be sorry.

We've had 230 points since 1992 and have not felt the need to buy more. We never stay on Fri or Sat nights (we're lucky that parents live in Sarasota - so we use the weekend to visit w/ them). We've done the cruise, and traded to some Concierge Collection spots. I would start out w/ the lower amount and add on later if you find it necessary.
