Some background... My first son was very much unexpected as I was only 18 when I got pregnant. Time has gone on, I have gotten married and now 7 years later I am TRYING to get pregnant.

It has been 5 months (not terribly long) and nothing so far. So I thought I would ask around and see what everyone elses experiences were. How long did it take you?

::yes:: Me too, the first month after stopping BC. And I was 39 at the time, so I was extremely lucky. For the second one, it took about 4 months, and DH couldn't understand what was taking so long..

I know I am extremely lucky in this matter due to my age. ::yes::

It takes me no time at all. However, I think the rule of thumb is to wait 8 months to a year before trying other methods.

Good luck!! I hope it happens soon:D

It took me just about 2 years to get pregnant with my first, then I had him, and got pregnant again within 3 months of having him! They 11 months apart, January 18th and December 28th.

4 years 9 months

then

1 year 10 months

then

5 years 5 months

Well, the key is, do you know when you're ovulating? I had a friend who tried for six months, then found out she ovulates later than many women. They didn't suceed simply because of their timing.

3 months for me. I was suprised since I'm older. My friends who have 2 kids say the 2nd one takes longer for some reason. Good luck and have fun trying!

I got pregnant with DS the very first time we didn't use birth control.

DD was conceived on DS's first birthday, the second time we "forgot" to use birth control. They are 20-1/2 months apart in age.

Needless to say, we NEVER forget birth control anymore! ;)

My DD was a suprise, but my DS took 6 months to conceive. The month I finally conceived him was the same month I used an ovulation predictor. I am currently trying to have a third. I'm just using the ovulation calendars available online. I like the one on Webmd. If you do a google search for ovulation calendars, you will get plenty of links. Good luck!

DS #1, 3 months
DS#2, about 1 year, with 3 months of clomid.

First try the first time. First try the second time. 5 months the third time. The girl was worth the wait. ;)

DD1 -- 1st time tried -- wasn't tracking anything, just happened
DS -- tracked cycle for 3 months before trying, got pregnant first time we tried
DD2 -- tracked cycle for 3 months before trying, after 5 months both DH and I wondered what the deal was, we decided to try one more time and then give up, figuring it wasn't meant to happen. The last time we tried, I got pregnant, so 6 months of trying with her. The only thing I can figure is I was older -- only by 3 years though and I was only 33, but I guess it can make a difference!

DD #1 - the 2nd month of BC pills

DD #2 - 2 years - after trying clomid, having an infertility workup of extensive tests and then dostinex. Diagnosed with secondary infertility.

it took us years to get pregnant w/DS - just when we thought it would never happen I got preg
we tried for about 6yrs after he was born and never had a 2nd pregnancy

Almost two years before conceiving DD. But DH was traveling 3-4 days a week the whole time, so the timing was off for a long time!

About 5 minutes the first time. The two after that were a little longer. :p ;)

at 34 I got pg unexpectedly...dh and I planned to start trying in a few months, so no big deal, but literally it only took one oops.

at 36 I got pg after a month and a half trying. sounds weird to say that, but I had a weird half cycle. guessing that had something to do with conceiving twins! LOL!

I never had problems getting pg, just had complicated pregnancies both times. well, they were easy until the last trimester anyway.

Good luck! depending on your age 5 months isn't that long.

I got pregnant the first time about 6 weeks after we married (SURPRISE-ok, it shouldn't have been). It ended in a miscarriage several weeks later. Then it took me 9 months to get pregnant with ds. Four months after ds was born I got pregnant again (BIG SURPRISE...we were using protection). That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. After ds' first birthday dh decided it was time to have another. It took almost a couple of years for me to get onboard with the idea, then it took another 2+ years to get pregnant. My kids are 5 years 7 months apart. I was 20 when I had ds and 26 when I had dd. And I LOVE my kids being so far apart! :bounce: :Pinkbounc
