I'm nearly a SSR owner.:) I've returned the signed contract with the closing cheque.

Just wondering - how long did it take everyone to close on their contracts after signing ?

We signed our contract and returned with a down payment on 2/18 for SSR and haven't heard anything yet.

Our resale took forever!! but we bought over the Christmas holidays which was a bad time (they close and ROFR stops and helps with member billing for dues) and a good time- there were lots of great deals available with folks selling before they had to pay dues. We signed 12/20 and did not close till 2/12, and were in the system in 3 days.... BUT, we were in in 3 days because we immediately added on AKV points and our guide helped get us in so we could add on quickly!! boy, that transaction was fast... the points were in our account in 3 days!!

Thru Disney over resale any day. With Disney I got last year's pts. also and never had to pay any closing cost. :cool1:

I just closed escrow for a resale. So now I get to wait another couple weeks for all the paper work to be sorted out. Im looking at 3 months from original offer to being in the Disney sytem.

We closed on Tuesday so only 3 working days after signing the final contract :cool1:

I'm finally an Owner:yay:

May be a stupid question but how do you actually know when you close? We signed all ther paperwork on 17th Feb but didn't realise there was another step to go through as such :confused3

Once you and the seller have signed and returned the paperwork then the Timeshare company exchanges money etc. and closes the file. In my case I spoke to Timeshare Closing Services who told me that I'd closed and TSS sent me a confirmation email the day after. :thumbsup2

This is for resale only. Disney probably wouldn't have this step.

Submitted for ROFR on Jan 16
Passed on Jan 29
Final check sent on Feb 23
Closed on Feb 28th

edit : In the system March 7th yahooooooooooo

Now just waiting on it getting in Disney system, was told 10 business days but have heard that they are backed up.. I will keep you posted

In the case of a resale, once you receive the closing papers you have about a month to send them back with payment. We sent ours in the same day. In both cases our resale was being sold from a family trust and the sellers took 2-3 weeks to sign their papers and get them back to the closing company. Then it takes maybe a week (?) to get the deed recorded. A few days more for the deed to be sent to DVC and for you to get into the system. Buying through Disney is much faster but if you are not in a big hurry you can often find better deals through resale.

We closed on a BWV resale on 2-27-07 and they sent the papers to Disney that day. I have my Membership# and can log into website but no points are showing up on my profile or when I call DVC. Is this normal? We went thru TSS. We are anxiously awaiting being able to book some trips. Thanks

For our last resale purchase the membership number showed up one day and the points were there by the afternoon of the next day. I think they tell you it will take at least a few days but ours showed up pretty quickly. It is hard to be patient! :)

We bought second hand through TTS. Our sellers happened to be local, so we shipped off our certified funds on a Tuesday, and the contract closed on Monday, 6 days later. If the sellers are not local, TTS has to ship off the docs to them and wait for them to be returned, so it can take longer.

Once we closed, ot took exactly 9 days to get in the system at DVC. I started calling on day 7, and although they had our name in the system the points had not been credited. I called on day 8 and nothing - called the morning of day 9 and nothing. By the afternoon of day 9, we were in and I had a reservation booked.

On day 12 (after closing) we got our welcome packet from Disney!:yay:

Oh - by the way, when I say "day 9" - this was this past Wednesday, 3/7. So this info is what is happening this week.
