How long contract with RCI?

Does anyone REALLY know how long the DVC and RCI contact is for? I have read 1,2 and 10 years on various boards. Would like to know the official if anyone has it.

Was there also a contract with II and did anyone know it was up. Since we are asking. RCI was their the first time - so maybe no one knows

Knowing Disney, the term of the contract is what ever Disney wants.

As long as the Mouse is making money from the deal, Disney will keep RCI around.

I think it has been reported that it is only for 2 years.

Two people have been told 2 years from fairly reliable sources. That seems short to me, I'm guessing it's 3 but could be 5 or 6. 1 would be nuts as would 10 and 2 doesn't make sense either.

DVC would not have made this change without intending to stay with RCI for a while. Had they just been testing it out they would have added RCI without dropping II. Unless there is a major problem, more than we've defined here, I'm sue DVC is expecting to stay with RCI for the long haul.

We just added on more points at AKV, and in our paperwork package was a document detailing the RCI contract and involvement. That document said that the relationship would last through Dec. 2010, with no guarantee of being extended or renewed. Basically Disney's option, same as it was I believe with Interval.

I am disappointed in the RCI offerings - and the fact that the points are completely insane for a few of the nicer properties. With the exception of the west coast and europe, the resorts are not as nice. And not being able to trade into a marriott or hyatt leads me to the resale market for a marriott or hyatt. I've seen hyatt's selling for less than $3000 on ebay - a whole week in a 2br - how much would that be with disney? about $40,000...I think those are the main comparable timeshare systems with disney in terms of real family resorts and they're gone. I was hoping to have access to the Seattle Worldmark - but that's not available either...oh well...no trading for me.
