How long between visits?

OP, if I lived a 9 hour drive from WDW, I would definitely try to get there a few times per year!
The closest trips we've had were DL in Oct, then WDW in in Jan. Other than that, we go a few years between due to budget.
Christmas is awesome time to visit WDW!

We just returned from a magical first trip to Disney World. We stayed January 3rd-9th at Caribbean Beach. Now that we are home, I am anxious to start planning another trip! I have been thinking about the week after Thanksgiving. Does anyone else return within the same year? Do you all think it is excessive? We are a family of 5 and I would love to save by booking a Value Resort but apparently none offer a room for 5. We kind of went "all out" for this first trip and I know if we return it will need to be a cheaper visit. I would love to hear of how often other families go. We live in Tennessee so it is about an 8-9 hour drive for us.

Haha, as long as your budget allows, there is no "too much Disney". Seriously... I think finances and paying debt is important. But, I also am a firm believer in the important of family vacations - because THEY are what your children will remember. They aren't going to give two whits about when the Visa was paid off, the nice car you drove or the day your mortgage was paid. But they WILL remember the time you spent with them on vacation. So, as long as you are able to responsibly take care of your debt and still afford to go - then do it!

We went assuming our trip was oging to be one and done. Partly because my husband was NOT keen on Disney and partly due to finances, we didn't think we'd ever be able to afford another trip. However, since then, things have changed. We certainly won't be yearly visitors, lol, the budget didn't change that much! But, we're hoping to be able to return summer 2017, which will have been 2 years in between. My hope is then to return again in 2021 for their anniversary celebration, as well as SWL and TSL.

LoL, Buy DVC, That'll get you to return more than not.. Honestly I didn't think once we went on our honeymoon, that I'd become so addicted, but the mouse bit me hard..LoL In a good way that is...

I'm with several other posters in that how often you go is really a personal choice. If we had the vacation time and financial freedom, we would probably go twice a year.

While I would've loved to have gone every other year when our kids were small, finances just didn't allow it. We've been 3 times since 2007, with another trip planned for 2017. DH and I have "dream out loud" plans about going yearly after we help our 2 through college and would really like to either retire to the Orlando area or buy into DVC.

My advice, go as often as you can/want. You never get that time back. Enjoy your vacation time with your family.

In my entire life, I've made the following visits:

1977 Disneyland
1985 WDW MK only
1998 AK only
2012 WDW all 4 parks + water parks

We'd like to repeat the 2012 trip, but have no plans to do so.

Our budget definitely doesn't allow for that. We're off-siters since it's so much cheaper.

We went in August and I couldn't wait to get back. We had been going about once a year. But I ended up booking a trip end of December. And while we had fun, it just didn't feel as special to me because we had been there so recently. I think we will go back to once a year.

I got bit by the bug hard. I went August 2014, then went back a month later. Then I took my mom this past June for a week, then went to DL, then back to WDW, and now I'm planning my next trip which will be in two months, followed by saving up serious cash to take my boyfriend to DL in November.

There is literally no cure. Help.

I'm always planning my next trip while I'm at WDW! I was able to visit 5 times in 2015. Most recently I was there in early December and will be back in mid April, however, I'm trying to add a quick trip in March too. It's never too soon to return for me!

Um, I don't like to go to often at all.
We went in:
2008-kids were 2 and 6
2010-kids were 5 and 9
2015-just son who was 13
My youngest has no desire to ever go. My son said after the last visit (though we had a GREAT time), he doesn't think he ever needs to go back.
I'm good for at least 5 years. There's way too many other places to experience in the world.....
But....for some reason I'm addicted to these boards. haha

We live about 2 1/2 hours away so what we usually do is go on day trips several times a year, whenever it's convenient and possible for us (using our no expiration passes). When those are used up I don't know what we'll do

I try to go once a year. My trip in 2 weeks will be my third trip in 15 months with a possible trip this coming fall. It's really all about personal preference. :goodvibes

We used to plan to go about every 5 years, then every 2, now that my DD is a CM we have gone Aug, Oct, Dec, Mar! Now er also have AP and every trip is very different. You can never go enough!

We generally try to go every 18 months. This gives us alternating winter/summer trips. However, this year we went in April for 9 nights, then when we found out about Osborne Lights, we booked a short 3 night stay in December just to see the lights. This was our first trip less than a week and we realized we enjoyed it and the drive (10-12 hours for us) wasn't that bad even for such a short trip. We are planning a trip for october just to do MNSSHP since we've never done it before, while we save for a 2017 DCL trip.

Once a year for the past 14 years. We do a nice length stay-usually 11 or 12 days, since we fly from CT.

you do whatever your budget allows. we go fairly often to disneyland since we're only like an hour away. we've been to wdw 3 times in the last 6 years. i'd totally go more often if budget allowed. excessive is a point of view. my extended family can't believe we go to disney as often as we do and i hear all about how it's "unnecessary". don't care, still gonna disney.

I would love to go more than once per year, but also don't want to burn myself out on Disney. I want it to be new and exciting each time I go. I think I need to give myself at least a year between trips, unless there is a special reason for one of them.

It's been 4 years since our last trip and that feels about right to me. 3-4 years is a good amount of time between trips.

At least once a year to WDW now that I live in CA, sometimes twice a year (but it's not common). When I lived in Miami and had an AP, multiple short visits (we're talking 5 or more a year).
