...Cupcakes get old?
If I made some Wednesday night, would they be ok to give to DS's soccer team Saturday morning? I would think they wouldnt be bad, but would they still be fresh enough by then?
 
If you are worried about them tasting fresh, I would stick them in the freezer and thaw them the day you want to serve them.
