How likely for this waitlist?

I have 2 waitlists for a studio at Grand Cal in July. Is it all likely that I will get one of them since Carsland is opening in June? What are waitlists really like? We are brand new to DVC.

How many days is each waitlist?

VGC is very small. If you don't own there the closer you made the reservations to the the 7 month mark the better. If you do own there, how long have you been on the WL, close to your 11 month window? As well as PP asked, the amount of days matter. The shorter the WL the better your chances. People have posted here that when making reservations exactly at 7 month what they have wanted has not been available and they have had to WL.

I am sure someone who has WL at VCG will chime in, hopefully you have a back up plan just in case the WL doesn't come through. Good luck!!

Anythings possible but think about it. Someone needs to cancel who had a reservation for the same dates and you have AND you need to be the next person on the list.

Plus the match process isn't automatic and people have reported that they have lost wait list matches to people booking who were not on a wait list.

Well to answer all questions:
Both waitlists are for 4 nights.
I am waitlisted for a studio for both.
I just became a member 2 weeks ago so there was no 7 month opportunity.
I have a cash reservation which I made months ago as a back up.

I really don't want to convert the cash room to points for a regular room since the points difference is 26 versus 50 per night. I figure my chances are slim to none because Carsland is bringing in the masses this Summer.

I am confused as you all are too about the experience of some that sometimes people call to reserve a room that has a waitlist and yet they get the room without being on the list...that is VERY odd.

First of all Congratulatios on your new membership! VCG is amazing it was the first place we stayed as DVC members and it stole our hearts right from the get go

It is good that you have a cash reservation as a back up, I agree that using points for a regular rooms doesn't seem to be a good way to go. You never know what can happen with a WL but it does seem like your chances are not the best for either to come through as a whole on their own.

As mentioned here and in other threads as well; the WL system does seem to have it's quirks so I would often check on line as well as call to see if one or two days may pop up here or there. There are usually random reports of people getting days this way. 4 days isn't so much that you might not get lucky and be able fill a few in a long the way one at a time.
