We were down in late Jan/ Early Feb....parking garage is open (as PP mentioned). I thought it was great - really cool system. It is however a walk (a nice walk but not terribly fast if you're in a hurry) to get to the Marketplace area. There is some alternative parking across the street but IMO the parking garage is much faster/ easier / less frustrating
I am wondering if it would be just as easy to take the bus from Shades of Green which is where we will be staying. I know they drop off down on that end anyway. It might be easier than fighting all the traffic and construction.
The parking garage has made it easy for guests to park. Just be sure to leave before 11pm or way after. Traffic out of the garage around 11pm becomes congested.
My BIL was down there a couple of weeks ago and he said traffic into and out of DTD is horrendous and the parking ramp didn't help the parking situation much. Maybe the second one will but I don't think it's scheduled to open until next year some time.
We are only planning to go to Downtown Disney one night to meander around the shops--my son will likely want more Potato Head parts. Hopefully it won't be TOO awful on a Thursday night.
We were down at the end of last month. The buses dropped off near the marketplace only. The parking garage is nice, but it's the only parking on that side of the street and is all the way down by Planet Hollywood. The parking garage is easy to get to. Just turn at the light near the garage. However we did notice traffic was really bad. If you have the option I'd recommend taking a bus.
We were there last week, and if you're staying at a WDW resort and want to go to the Marketplace, take the bus. It'll drop you off on that end. If you want to go to the West Side, the garage is wonderful, but it's a lo-o-ong hike to the Marketplace.

This is our plan too. We're staying at SOG in April, and we usually drive to DTD, but we decided to save our sanity and let SOG do the driving. Let's hope it works out!
We are here now. We left the MK at 8 and it took us 45 minutes to get through DD. Traffic is a nightmare. I wanted to go to the Basin so walked from the garage. No one was there. The staff said sales have been terrible. We would also go to DD several times but once was enough
Is there an option to take a bus if you're not staying at a resort? We were going to burn some time after our cruise before our 8pm flight and have a rental car. Plus it's 7/4. I'm scared
