I have not been to WDW since they made the Wi-Fi free at DVC resorts.

How is the Wi-Fi at BWV and SSR?

Do the rooms now have ethernet jacks as well, at BWV and SSR?

:surfweb:

When I did a speedtest at SSR wired (is there wireless?) I got 21Mbps download, which was pretty smokin'.

It's been posted that you can sometimes pickup wi-fi over the Big River Grill at BWV.

The Internet IS wired. However, we take our wi-fi router from home with us and plug it in. We get perfect wireless in the room and all of us are able to connect and share the connection.

The Internet speed is very good at BWV and AKV.. When we stayed at OKW last year, I was not impressed with the speed so unless they fixed it, it wasn't that good.

In June the internet at SSR was just fine. I used a wireless router from home and it worked great.

Is the free internet for owners only?? We will be staying at SSR but the owner will not be with us but the owner did make the reservation for us...
The owner insists that we will get the same perks as an owner since we are using his points...right or wrong ???

I am not completely sure on this, but when we were at OKW in July, we were charged for internet for one night out of six. When I asked at the front desk to have this removed, they verified that I was a member and asked for my blue membership card. We had no problem at SSR the next week so don't know for sure if they would have checked there as well.

Oh and we bought a small wireless travel router for about $49 to use for our 11 day stay and it was the best money we spent. With my work laptop and my college age daughter's two laptops, we had a great signal and great speeds.

Renters do not get free Internet; only the owner.

Thanks ....thats what I thought the answer would be....

I almost made it up to Woodstock...buttt the thruway was closed....:scared1:

We just returned from the BCV and we used the ethernet cord in the closest. It went right through with no problem. No charges on our bill at all.

we were at SSR in July and had no problems with the internet at all. it was great! heading to BCV here soon and taking the wireless router so it will be even better!

What about guests?

I would suspect that if the owner is not present it is no as well. The names of those staying in the room are on the reservation so if the owner is not present, then it would be charged the $9.95 per 24 hour period. The same should be true if the owner is there but is staying in a different room. Only the room the owner is staying in would have the internet free.

What about associate members?

Associate members do not have rights to any member perks.

Officially it is members only but the reality of it is some renters/guests have reported getting it free.

We just returned from SSR and are not members. Since we were there on points we were entitled to, and received, free internet..

We had a great time..:cool1:

I'll second the suggestion for bringing a wireless router with you. With a laptop its nice not to be tethered to one spot in the room. Using a wireless router seems to be pretty popular, last week at SSR I could pick up 3 other routers in addition to my own. Three out of the 4 were Apple Airport Express routers.
