How is the food at 50's Primetime (other suggestions)??

you know it's funny that I haven't been since 1995 but remember the food and atmosphere. The food was very good, especially the Pot Roast!!! And the atmosphere is outstanding, especially with the television sets :) And with the whole Motherly role the Cast Members portray :) well if you haven't been, you should.

I loved the themeing of this restaurant.
My Mom loved the Pot Roast and she's a really picky eater.
I thought the Pot Pie was bland with too much salt to compensate.
I loved the smores.

My experience there wasn't great. I might actually say it was my least favorite disney meal. Our waitress didn't play it up at all and my food was out 3 minutes after I ordered it meaning that it was pre-plated before I ordered.

I really like Mama Melrose for Hollywood Studios dining.

Mama Melrose is yummy!! I had the flatbread (pizza), and it was very, very good!!

You must have gotten a bad pie!! Man, oh, man, it's delicious!! I'm not a salt person, hardly use the stuff...on anything. I definitely would have noticed.

We have gone several times. The pot roast is delicious and my mother loves their meatloaf. We find the servings quite large and have begun sharing a dinner between two people. Last time, we were there, they let you get a malt (as a dessert) and it is large enough for two.

We usually have another TS meal planned for dinner in the day and go to Primetime for lunch.

But I have found out why the waitresses have to "make" you eat the green beans. I usually like beans, but the beans there are B A D! Just learned that Disney lets you substitute sides, so I will be subbing something else for beans next time.

The PB&J milkshakes are the bomb! :worship:

That sounds interesting.

The 50s Primetime Diner & Mama Melrose's are the only two Disney restaurants that I can say we did not like. The pot roast was good, but my dh did not like the fried chicken at all.

last time i was there, i had the pork dish... dbf had pot roast. I've also had the vegetarian dish. IMHO, it's average... but the atmoshpere makes this a must do!!!! food is good, not great... but this place is so fun, it ranks as one of our favorites!

Great comfort food with fun atmosphere!:rotfl: Meatloaf, pot roast, and caesar salad were yummypopcorn:: .

I'm nervous about our December ressie here...Dbf and I are both a little shy but I'm hoping that our festive vacation mood (and maybe some adult beverages) will have us in a more playful, outgoing mood that night.

Dbf loves fried chicken and I keep drooling over the pictures of the s'mores dessert, so that's why we're keeping it for now!

I've passed this place since I was little but my family never tried it (we've done Mama Melrose and Sci Fi A LOT!) so we'll see how it goes. :santa:

Very possible. I would never discount a restaurant for one dish alone.

Oh no! We have a ressie in December at 4:45, which I think is Dinner. After seeing the pics, I'd decided to get the pot pie. It looks so yummy!!! I wonder if I could still get it if I asked...

I'll try to find out 11/30 when we're there for dinner.

I'm always nervous ordering off another menu. Ever since Kevin from the Dis Podcast got his "sad little crab cake" off the lunch menu without sauces or garnish from Coral Reef. The chef is not expecting people to order something from another menu, it might not be prepared exactly the same way. I'll ask, as the pot pie is my favorite!!

Maybe if we all suggest it they'll put it on the lunch and dinner menu!

LOVE Prime Time, it's a must for us each trip. We love the Brie Cheese appetizer, and the pot roast and fried chicken are delicious! Yum yum!

I was there in late august and saw nothing about a Brie platter or I definitely would have gotten it since i LOVE brie - but I could be wrong, and maybe I didn't look good enough.

Anyway, we LOVED 50s prime time. Before i went, i read mixed reviews on this site and i prepped bf that the atmosphere wasnt loved by everyone on here and some that it was too in-your-face. But we had a great time! The food was great too! The host and waiters all played along like fighting siblings and introduced us all to the tables next to us as "cousins."

I ordered the meatloaf and loved it, and bf ordered the salmon and loved it too. We were eating off each others plates and got praised for "sharing" lol And we enjoyed a peanut butter & jelly milkshake which i NEVER thought i would like but instead i ended up loving it and will be asking if i can get that next time i am there to-go. I really recommend it since it was such a fun experience.

Thanks! I knew I read it was no longer on the menu. I "think" it was called fried herb cheese platter, but I'm not sure, never had it. I haven't been there in three years. I remember skipping appetizers to enjoy the entree and dessert. :yay:

My grampa's a very reserved (but kinda goofy around his grandkids and great-granddaughter) retired USMC captain, and he thought it was pretty entertaining. The waitstaff, in our experience, knows when to turn it up or turn it down. Have a blast!!

Thanks for being willing to check and report back on what you find out. I remember the "sad little crab cake" issue too. It wasn't pretty. :scared1:
The pot pie does seem like it would be appropriate for both lunch and dinner. I've picked the pot roast as my backup as I'm hoping it'll remind me of my late Grandma's pot roast Sunday dinner we'd have. Yummy!
