we will be staying at bwv, but was thinking of walking over to have lunch around pool at swan..are you allowed to eat there if you are not a guest?do you need wristband for pool?

You won't be able to sit right at the pool if you are not a guest. I was there a few years ago and they did have wristbands then. Someone may be able to give you more current info...

There is a really nice cafe outside by the pool - that you don't need a wristband for.

I've only eaten at the Dolphin side restaurant and it was fabulous. No one had wristbands at that time, but obviously things have changed. I can understand it, but it's also a bummer because I think people miss so much when they automatically dismiss S/D b/c they aren't Disney resorts. I only stumbled across how amazing they are when I was "stuck" staying there because they had the last room available in Disney.

Even when I'm staying at YC/BC or BW, I still go to S/D for sushi, Picabu's, drinks.

Hi,
Both the Swan and the Dolphin have dining pool side. The Dolphin side it much more envolved and I would recommend going over to that side. You do not need to ge a guest of the S/D to enjoy a meal poolside. You cannot get a pool towel without showing your S/D room key but no wristbands at least not the last time we were there.

You can't swim in those pools if you are a non-guest.They do check over there

Really??? I have never been asked to show my key or wristband or anything to prove where I'm staying. I think that's a myth...

I agree. We usually just have to show our room key to get towels from the health club on the Swan side or from the "shack area" over at the main pool/Dolphin lap pool side but I have never had them ask to see our room key once we were pool side.

The Dolphin has a fine pool, but it isn't a cool, themed pool with cool water slides or anything. No volcanos, clowns or Aztec stuff. It's just a regular pool. There are better pools, there are worse.

They don't check when I'm there.

I had mine checked as well as another group when I stayed at the Swan for a Nursing convention.I didn't make it up

IMO - Grotto pool is fantastic. It's not obnoxiously themed, but has a beautiful, huge waterfall and a slide. There are lap pools and a quiet pool. I find the theme very whimsical and relaxing and my kids LOVE it.

I'm here now & no one has checked or asked if we're guests when swimming or eating at the Grotto pool. It's FREEZING so the pool area is empty. We're checking out at noon & making one last quick trip down there shortly. Of course today is going to be 70 & sunny & beautiful & we're outta here! This is my 4th stay at S/D & we've never been asked if we're guests at the pool or had to have wristbands. Maybe they only enforce that when they anticipate that the pool area will be full.

Hey Tara, I'm heading down there in 18 days and I'm also from the Lehigh Valley. I'm so sorry you had cold weather. I was just saying that I was glad I wasn't down there last week. Here's hoping it warms up in the next 2+ weeks. I need the heat!

I don't know about the Swan/Dolphin, since I've never stayed there, but I do know we had our room key checked at both the Wilderness Lodge and at the Boardwalk a few years ago. In both instances we saw people being asked to leave. The WL was in January and the BW was in May, so neither time was the pool particularly packed.

I don’t know it is allowed or not but you should not do that. :surfweb:

Lincoln Downs, what shouldn't they do? The OP is asking if they can eat at the restaurant next to the pool. As a huge S/D fan, I think that's a great idea so they can get a feel for the place and see how wonderful it is especially since the restaurant on Dolphin side is so good. However, I don't think they should use the pool, unless they are guests there.

Do other resorts ask you to leave if you're getting a drink or something to eat poolside? :confused3 I've done that when visiting WL when I wasn't staying there. I never realized that was against the rules, I just thought it was using the pool.

We will be staying at the BWV but we like to explore different hotels for future tripa and just to get out and try different surroundings so thought lunch would be a nice way to do it.

thanks for the insights.

Don't pay any attention to Lincoln Downs...seriously. They've been posting silly stuff all over the boards.

Someone asked for a recommendation of where to eat at DTD-LD gave them the name of some place in Australia! They've also been pushing some time shares or hotels or something in Australia all over the boards.
