How is it the first weekend in June?

A friend of mine said his daughter's family is going to wdw the first weekend in June. I didn't want to tell him, that is when gays and lesbians converge on wdw/orlando. Well anyway, this family is a small town family of high Christian values and I can only imagine what it might be like. Should I have said anything? I just said great!

Can anyone ease my mind and tell me they won't even notice?

We have gone the first week of June. Although, it is noticable that it is gay week, it did not bother my family one way or another. We had an incredibly wonderful time as did everyone there that week. This was about 5 years ago and now 2 of my children are teens. They remember going but don't really remember it as being different than any other time that we went, so it did not leave any impression on them. I would go again at that time without hesitation.

We have been there over Gay Days and I much prefer that to a lot of other weekend events such as Grad Nights and Cheerleading tounaments!!

Chances are you won't even notice any difference. Gay people go to WDW at any time, not just that weekend.

Don't worry about it!!! Your friend's family will have a great time!!!

They probably won't even notice. We were there one year and I didn't notice till the last day (my gaydar must have been on vacation mode). Like CindyFan said Gay people go there everyday. I have never seen improper behavior at DW with same sex couples- now straight people- its amazing what they will do in public!!!

MK is extremely crowded on that Saturday. We normally get a letter under our resort room door from Guest services suggesting an alternate park due to the crowds. If they don't go to MK that day, chances are they won't notice anything the rest of the week.

We have been to wdw several times over gay weekend. In the past my kids have not noticed anything. I would say though if you head straight to the MK on that first Saturday your friends will definitely notice. I would warn them ahead of time and give them the opportunity to decide if this will be a problem for them. Only they know how they will feel about this issue. Friends of mine changed their reservations to avoid this weekend. Everyone has their own opinoin.

The only difference will be that the MK is VERY crowded on June 1. Other than that you probably won't notice much. The weather is usual Florida...hot, humid, and an occasional rain shower. If you decide to go read the other posts re: weather, footwear, packing this site is full of info you will find valuable. Have fun whenever you decide to go. Me? I'm counting the days as you can see
