I fly them all the time, they are OK. You can pick seats. The bag fees are $25 for the first, $35 for the second. There is a small discount if you pay online. If you book far in advance, they change schedules pretty often. Also watch your seats, if they make schedule changes, they sometimes move your seats especially if the aircraft model changes.

Hi There,

I have had many excellent flights with Delta! (never fly US air)

The costs are not bad if you can book early. I just booked for May, from Hartford, Ct to MCO, round trips, $180.00 each. We are staying at OKW (DVC) so we will have and washer and dryer and no check in bags.:yay:

AKK

We flew them last December (always flew with NWA before the merge)

No problems to Orlando or coming home flight wise. On time, etc.

The snack boxes are $5 each (no cash) which is insane but they keep my kids occupied for 15 minutes or so, so we cough it up! :rotfl:

We are watching their prices for this January.

How do you get the discount for luggage..by doing it online??? I didnt see that anywhere ?? a PP mentioned it... thanks!! :)

During online check-in. It's $23 instead of $25 for the first, $32 instead of $35 for the second.

Hadn't flown them in years but was on a flight with them a month ago. 3 regional air craft (had a connection in both directions) and 1 big one. The big one was from Atlanta to Philly had internet on it so that was a plus, but the plane was nasty, like an old city bus that should have been taken out of service years ago. I don't remember anything in particular about the little planes other than cash for snack box on the little plane, no cash on the big one...... odd.

Got me where I was going and even though there was weather all of us (in our group) made our connections.

Picked my seat and carried on, so no additional fees.

I'd fly them again if they were the best price.

Yes, you pay when you check-in. You do not need to show her birth certificate. Under 18 does not require ID unless they are a lap child (which is only under 2).

If you have the American Express SkyMiles Gold, you can check your first bag free.
;)

The cardholder and everyone on the same reservation get one free bag, up to 8 people I believe. I got one and have used it already for a free bag, plus my miles are really adding up.

We flew Delta from Oregon last January. We had booked about 9 months in advance and paid $236 RT. A few months later they canceled all of our flights and rebooked us without notifying us, and I had submitted my email when I booked. Our original flight left at 1 pm with one layover of one hour, return flight was about the same. We were traveling with an elderly disabled passenger, so flight schedule was important. When they rebooked us, our new flights had layovers of over 9 hours each way and our seats were spread all over the plane (we were traveling with 2 kids under 7 also). I was a bit upset! I called to get the flights changed, and they worked with me but I was limited in the flights I could select because they had to find flights that had available seats within my same category. Since I had paid such a cheap fare, that presented some problems. We ended up having to fly out at 6 am with a 1 hour layover. Our return flight had two stops of 3+ hours each. Our decent 7 hour travel day became 13+ hours. It was a horrible, long, painful (for my mother) day and I would NEVER have booked such a return flight if I had a choice.

On top of all that, when we arrived at 4 am for our first flight (we had printed boarding passes the night before with confirmed seats for all flights), we were told that we were all on standby in our connecting city. Even the ticket agent was confused how they could do this when we had checked in and printed boarding passes. I suspect it had something to do with us being the lowest fare paying passengers. When the ticket agent saw we were traveling with a disabled passenger and two small kids, she got on the phone with the connecting city and spoke to a manager for over 30 minutes to get us off standby.

I have read too many bad things about Delta, and have experienced it enough for myself. I will avoid Delta in the future, even if it costs me another $150 per person, which is what the other airlines charge from our city.

I know it is possible for all airlines to change their flights, but Delta is known for it. Before booking this great deal, take a look at all of the other flight options for your days and ask yourself if you are willing to accept the worst possible combination of those flights. And don't book a car rental until a couple of weeks before your flight in case your arrival/departure times change.

We fly with Delta on every trip and have never had any trouble. We have already booked our tickets for next Aug. You do have to be diligent about checking your flights. I usually check once a week to make sure there are no changes. Most of the big problems with flight being cancelled and changed came when they merged with Northwest and were eliminating double flights. We had one changed at that point but after a calm phone call to them they put us the flights we wanted and we got the seats we wanted without any trouble. As with any airline these days (there are complaints on here about every airline and cancellations/changes) you just have to diligent about checking your flights. Not sure why email notification hasn't work for use but we are emailed with every Delta change, even if the time change is only 5 min.

We usually end up flying Delta because either they or Airtran have the best fares to Orlando for us. Haven't had to deal with any major flight changes with them, but did find out the hard way a couple of years ago why people say that Delta stands for "Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive." Lost an entire day and a half of WDW time dealing with lost luggage and inept Delta personnel. Now DS and I always give a cheer when our bags show up on the carousel.

I know luggage issues happen with every airline, but Delta really handled it poorly. Still, price is our main concern, so we'll be on Delta again in February!

I was dreading our trip from Chicago to Boston on Delta, but I was very pleased with their service, our first fight was delayed and they were super fast in rebooking us so we could make our connecting flight...

But Southwest is our main carrier...
