How is Boatwright's at POR?

We're planning to eat there on arrival day for supper, but in looking around for general POR information I saw that WDWInfo's comments on the POR overview page regarding Boatwrights were pretty scathing:
This resort also has a full service restaurant, Boatwrights - which in our estimation is among the worst on property. ... Boatwrights has been a consistent disappointment in our recent visits .
There's no "last updated" for the page, so I have no idea if that conclusion was reached five months ago or five years ago.

Any recent visitors have raves or rants to share?

We have stayed at POR twice....LOVE it! But we have never eaten at Boatwrights....but we LOVE the CS options! A very wide variety! Everything from make your own pasta, burgers, and carving station (veggies and roast beef or turkey)

We've eaten at Boatwrights several times and loved it. The food is nothing fancy, but good sized portions of southern style cooking. I really enjoyed the gumbo and the jambalaya (couldn't finish it, huge portion!) although angel food cake bananas foster was a little plain.

I would say it is perfect if you are staying at Port Orleans, but may not be worth a special trip just for this restaurant. We've also done okay with walk-ups here.

We ate at Boatwrights just last spring. My husband really like his jambalaya, and I had the prime rib which was really good. If your looking for a relaxing evening at the resort I would definitely give it a try. It will not disappoint!

Mmmm! We ate there in April 2012 and really enjoyed it! They give you some delicious cornbread to start, OMG sooo good!!

We really enjoyed our meal at Boatwrights. It was about 2 years ago, and we were staying at PO. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to eat there, but if you are staying at PO, it is a good option. The service was great, the food was very good, and the atmosphere was nice. It was not crowded at all. In fact, we walked up and got a table without a reservation.

We ate at Boatwrights back in 2009, and everyone in our party of 10 was fairly unimpressed. We just ate there again in January, and really liked it. We had no ADR's that night, and were just too lazy to go Downtown. I really felt like we were wasting a TS credit by eating in at Boatwrights, but decided to do a walk up anyway. We all really enjoyed our dinners! I had the New York strip, and DH had the Prime Rib. I think my parents had the same. I remember all of the desserts were really good, too!

NOTE: Boatwrights used to get good reviews, but over the past two years has
really gone down hill in the food quality department. In our opinion, it is below
avg. ThenbPrime Rib and VooDoo Chicken were both voo-doo-hoo-doo. We did
enjoy the Blackened Fish.bnFor dessert, the Banana Foster Angel Food Cake
was heavenly. Yes, it is convenient for the resort guests, but not very highly
recommended. If staying at POR, we recommend walking to POFQ for the food
court.

Thanks - is that date mm/dd/yyyy, or dd/mm/yyyy? (Oh, why can't we all use the ISO yyyy-mm-dd standard? :) ) it's either a year+old or about six months.

Replacing a TS meal with a CS meal isn't really a recommendation that's going to work for us, since we plan to use a DDP credit. Maybe POFQ needs a TS place.

Appreciate the other responses too. Sounds generally positive, which is good. Even if it's less than good, the Akershus breakfast experience the next day will probably make us forget either way!

DH & I love Boatwrights! We couldn't fit it in for upcoming trip, but have eaten there on arrival day for the last several trips. The cornbread is yummy and my favorite dish is the veggie jambalaya - I have gotten that the last few visits. DH always gets something different and always enjoys whatever it is.

We just ate there in Jan '14. We thought it was good! The cornbread was moist and yummy. The entrees were really flavorful and very filling! I remember thinking we could eat there again if we stay at POFQ again!

1) Alas, in The States we do not typically use an ISO standard.
2) We pretty much go month/day/year . . .
. . . m/dd/yy
. . . mm/dd/yy
. . . mm/dd/yyy
. . . mmm/dd/yy
. . . mmm/dd/yyyy
. . . etc
3) Also, we normally don't use metric a an every day standard.
4) Eh?

:)

We loved Boatwright's at POR. Last March we decided to try it for out on our relaxing day at the resort and were really happy with the food and service. Both of us ordered the Prime rib which was huge and delicious and the pecan Pie tasted just like my homemade version. I would probably go there for the cornbread and service alone.

DH and I ate there 1/1/14 and were really looking forward to it because we love Cajun/Louisiana type food!! We got seated around 730, and restaurant was somewhat busy! We ordered a app first, some crawfish tails, they were okay! We waited over a hour for entrees and when we finally got them they cold and not good at all! I don't know if it was because they were busy or it was just a off night, but we enjoyed this meal the least. We ate at a total of 15 TS. I would not pass it up due to always giving places a second chance! I have read many good reviews, ours was just a off night I believe!

We ate there on our recent trip (January 2014) and we were pleased with the service, as well as the food. We are from La..while we didn't have an of their "Cajun" dishes, the entrees/as well as the sides, we selected were delicious.

I never go to a place that says they serve Cajun food and expect it to be like the food in Louisiana. For the most part I don't even go unless I am in Louisiana. I can cook it better than most restaurants, being a native. I go to order crawfish here in TX and ask for a side of cayenne. ;)

We have done Boatwrights several times and have always had a good meal. I enjoy the jambalaya!!
